Nice spot in fancy Ipanema. Pretty good food, great juices and cocktails - but high prices, also for expensive Rio. Good and attentive service looks after a mixed crowd of tourists and wealthy locals.

To be fair, the trouble on this one may have started with our concierge at the Windsor Atlantica, but what could have been an opportunity turned out to be a horrible dining experience. We were told by a hostess the hotel concierge never called with our reservation, but that the wait would be 45 minutes.

Took 30 minutes for our drinks to come. Two hours after we arrived -- still no table while we watched several other local parties the same size as our's with no reservation be seated and receive their food. Couldn't tell you what the food was like because we politely voiced our displeasure and gave up after 2 hours. Cocktails were decent and creative, but overpriced.

We went down the block to Garota and had a great priced meal with fairly traditional food -- steak, chicken, frites, banana pizza and Chopp. Lots of locals, lightning fast service and warm hospitality. We can stay at home in the US and get treated like garbage. We didn't fly half way around the world to be treated like gum on the bottom of someone's shoe.

We were at a medical conference in Rio -- so many amazing locals, dining experiences and we were absolutely blown away by the hospitality of our Brazilian hosts. We certainly wouldn't let this one experience take the shine off our trip, but I wouldn't go back to Za Za if you paid me. We let several others who were planning to go of our experience and made other recommendations. Shame on these guys.

hi Racine, sorry about your experience at Zaza. It isnt our goal to disappoint customers, otherwise we wouldn`t be one of Rio`s most disputed restaurants. Next time, should you choose to give us a fair try, our tip would be to make reservations on our site. Calling doesnt work, as we simply tell people to book through our site, or to show without booking (as you did) and wait for a table.
We do hope you try us again.

Just of Post 9 at Ipanema beach, you find this cozy little restaurant that offers outdoor and indoor seating. Although the menu is not very extensive, all the dishes were excellent. Quality and presentation of dishes and drinks set themselves apart from other restaurants that we tried but were reflected in the price. Check it out when you are in the area.

So good we went back a few times, great service and excellent menu.
If I lived in Rio, this would be my local haunt.

The food here was great. We had a curry ceviche was outstanding. Also, the chicken curry was amazing. And, we have fish dish which was great. We sat upstairs which was cute -- low moroccan tables. It was really nice and intimate. The down site -- their water wasn't working so you couldn't wash your hands or flush the toilet. I didn't want to think about what this meant in the kitchen -- I hope employees could wash their hands. Also, the service was really poor. Really bad. I actually felt like our server really disliked us.
