Location: If you are staying purely for work purposes at Centro, then this is the perfect place for you. If you wish to stay at the party hub of Rio and be close to tourist attractions, then you are recommended to stay at the Windsor hotel in Copacabana. However, this hotel is only a 1 minute walk to the subway that will take you to beaches and tourist attractions.

Safety: We stayed during weekdays and was very safe during the day time as it is filled with business people. It can get shady at night.

Rooms: Stayed at level 9. Perfect size. Bed was very comfortable. Showers were clean. Quiet room.

Pool and sauna at top level was lovely for December humid weather. Although very small, it is good for dip after a hot day.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and it was a very busy and popular hotel for visiting office workers and tourists. Taxi fare to this hotel was R$52 (US$26) as it was in zone 2. The hotel had a small pool, sauna and gym on the roof. The room was a bit small but beds were rather comfortable and shower was strong. There was also free WiFi in room with rather strong reception. On the first floor, there was a room with 3 computers for guests’ use. TV had many channels which included CNN and Bloomberg TV. The only problem we experienced in the room was that setting of password for the safe took at least 30 minutes to be registered/reset. Breakfast was ok with good juice, fresh fruits of papaya, banana, water melon, honey dew melon and pineapple. There were scrambled eggs as well as sausages and cold cuts.

Location of this hotel was excellent as it was only 5 minutes’ walk from the main square of Cinelandia where the Municipal Theater, Museum of Fine Art and the Cinelandia metro station. At this square, there were also Citibank and HSBC whereby money drawn from Citibank’s ATM card was as competitive as the money changer. It was within 15 minutes’ walk from Lappa area/the Cathedral, around 25 minutes’ walk from the Monastery of San Benedict and around 20 minutes' walk from the mariner where you can see part of the Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Hotel staff was very helpful in providing information about touristic destinations, public transportation and restaurants.

We stayed on two separate occasions in October and were pleased with the choice. I was attending a conference near the old port which could be reached cheaply and quickly by taxi or subway. The hotel is close to Lapa (nightlife) and Centro (shopping) and a 10-15 minute ride on the subway to the beaches. The rooms are somewhat basic but clean and beds good. Bathrooms are a reasonable size. The pool and bar area on the top floor was excellent. Very good breakfast which was replenished constantly. The staff were professional and some including the bar staff and porters were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a floor on a higher level.

I have stayed countless times at this hotel; it is a very good choice to stay in Rio as it is very close to Lapa if youy are into the party (just two blocks), just into Centro were most offices are located, close to Flamengo and Botafogo, and inexpensive to take a cab and go to Ipanema or Copacabana.
The rooms are always clean and neat. Price is low compared to other Windsors, and is a good rate for the location and good service. Food is okay and service of the staff is also good.
I will continue to stay in there because I feel price/value rate is indeed good.

Stayed one night only on a flight stopover. Seemed nearest reasonable hotel to the GIG airport. R$80 and 35 minutes from the airport in RadioTaxi. 'Superior' double room was very good but basic, 18th floor, no noise issues. Good bathroom, big shower. Room, like the hotel, was quiet, clean, bland, a bit austere: basically a good business hotel. Very pleasant roof terrace and bar with city view including Cristo and Lapa arches: excellent when illuminated at night, not so impressive view of roofs in daylight. Drinks on the terrace slightly spoilt by cooking smells presumably from kitchen exhausts. Tiny pool. Good breakfast with plenty of selection. Reception staff very helpful - booked a car (nice car, not a taxi) to the airport for 7 am next day: R$60 and 20 minutes.
