Owner description: This quaint bohemian neighborhood of Rio with colonial buildings and cobblestone streets steep on a hillside overlooking the city is earning the interest of tourists wishing to see an alternate Rio away from the beach scene. Art galleries and restaurants add to the local culture of Santa Teresa.

I stayed at Santa Teresa while visiting Rio. The service was fantastic. Although pricy a bit, but given the quality of the service, I could go along with it. The staff were accommodating & professional. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Thank you!

I think this place would be great to see as part of your tram ride but since its demise I really wouldn't bother...graffiti ridden + smells just as previous review said...the parque das ruinas is also closed for safety reasons which was not posted anywhere. Stay down in Lapa..or even better get on a ferry & go over to Niteroi!!!

There are signs that people are trying to brighten up this grungy district - with some interesting cafe/restaurant outlets available - however overall the place is dirty, smelly and graffiti ridden. Sure, if this turns you on then good luck - give the area a go.

If you are tired with the Carnival heat and crowd this is the palce to relax in the cool colonial bars where time slows down. Really nice views of Lapa and the Harbour. Definetly a must do when in Rio. I also recomend stayng in the villas on the hill. Most are a home like hotels - furniture, paintings, glasses all like in early '20s. Rio Pallazio is a definite 5 star!

This place is best to explore by foot but be prepared as some parts are quite steep but it is not difficult and there are lots of bars and restaurant to rest as well. It is quite an interesting neighborhood, you can see colorful houses, mural and unique building structure. Quite and peaceful too,
