We stayed 3 nights in early August. The staff was friendly and professional but did not exceed the quality of service we got in the Pousadas we stayed in at Parati or Trancoso. As there was a lot of good press about this hotel, I expected a lot more. We can't help but compare the hotel to the trendy boutique hotels of Hong Kong, London or Shanghai where guests can get espresso machines and ipod docks in their rooms. The rooms are quite small and one could hear sounds from next door. Rooms were not cleaned thoroughly especially corners of the room and bathroom walls and floor. The design of the bathroom allows the shower area to be seen from the bedroom through a clear glass (this seems to be a trend for hotels built around 2005 all over the world which is not popular with some guests including myself). We could not get the blinds of the bathroom to close but the staff made it possible to fix the problem immediately.

The staff tried really hard to make our stay comfortable; there was a leak in our room from the air-conditioning and this was immediately addressed.

Breakfast was superb and service was excellent in the restaurant. The hotel also has a great bar which sometimes features top musical artists. We were fortunate to enjoy an evening of Jazz at the bar and guests were not charged for entrance to this event.

The best feature of this hotel is the rooftop pool and restaurant. Great to lounge any time of the day and watch people. Very good service and great view of the city and the mountains.

Location is perfect for those who want to frequent the many restaurants, cafes and bars in the Ipanema area -- safe place to walk to even late at night.

Room Tip: ask for rooms facing the beach on a high floor.

Hotel Fasano is located in the best point of Ipanema: close to Arpoador. The rooftop pool is amazing, with a wonderful view of the ocean. It's a nice way to relax if you don't feel like going to the beach. Staff is very good and service is almost spotless.

My room was not so large, but I've found the space adequate. The bed was really comfy, quiet AC, nice bathroom, and great shower. Lacks a bathtub.

Now the downsides: hallways and rooms (except for the rooms facing the beach) are very dark. No free internet -- actually, wifi is outrageously expensive for a hotel that charges so high rates.

Fasano is definitely very nice, but I'm not sure if it's worth the money. Anyway, if you want to splurge, go for it.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea are sunny, back rooms are too dark

I've been there last weekend and it was perfect. The hotel is perfect from all aspects: Ipanema is the best beach to stay, it is close to everything and the view is amazing; The hotel has an outstanding pool on the top;

There is just one drawback: the bar. But you can survive: there are others better very close to the hotel :-)

Room Tip: Don't pick-up rooms with sea view under the 4th floor. The street in front of the hotel is very busy even in the early morning.

The location of the hotel is just perfect, in front of Ipanema beach.

Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome from the hotel manager.

Our rooms had a balcony (as most of the room) with a view on the ocean, was perfectly clean and had a nice bathroom.

The concierge was helpful in many ways and overall service exceeded our expectations.

Breakfast buffet is very very nice and provides the best crispy beacon we ever had.

If you walk to the 'Praça Gen Osono' (4 minutes), you'll find many shops, change and nice places to have lunch (such as the 'Felice Café' on R. Gomes Carneiro).

We never felt insecure in Ipanema and walked to restaurants for dinner.

Obviously, expect to hear the large ocean waves 24/24 and to watch the wonderful atmosphere of Ipanema !

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 6th floor

The Fasano was new when I first stayed there. The hotel staff were eager to meet any need that arose. The roof top is great and I was able to entertain a couple visiting friends from Chile. The location was good and the room nice.
