Owner description: This is the first hill up on the way to Rio's famous Sugar Loaf. It offers it's own marvelous view from the top (215 meters) but its base is also a good place for hiking.

This place could be a little underestimated as it may not be in the main two places to go ( Christ, Sugar loaf, copacabana, etc) , however, the experience of being there, the exibitions on the cable car history, the theater, the eating area, the helicopter ride, and the direct contact with the nature makes this place a fantastic area to enjoy the Rio de Janeiro from another perspective. You can see almost all the main atractions in the Rio area from this Morro, also you can enjoy the hike up or way down to the morro (its just 40 minutes maximum walk). Just bring appropiate shoes and you will enjoy it. Below the Morro da Urca ,you will see the Red Beach (Praia Vermelha) its a nice place.

beautiful placê, with an amazing view particularly if you visit it on a sunny day. Tip: Arrive early in the morning to avoid lines.

The Morro da Urca is is the hill right next to the Pao de Acucar (Sugarloaf Mountain). The cablecar to the top of the Sugarloaf stops there first, and the views there give you a taste of what's to come. Instead of taking the cablecar though, you can hike up the side and enjoy the same amazing views for free, as well as enjoying some healthy exercise. Be warned that if you hike up you won't be able to take the cable car from Urca up to the Sugarloaf or back down, unless you've bought the full-price ticket at the bottom.

This is the Sugarloaf mountain cable car.
It is good to go up top first then come down slowly to skip the crowed.
It is worth taking the walk in the Atlantic Forest. The views were amazing! It is also very safe to go.

The view from the mountain is just amazing, don't miss this while in Rio. Follow the path on the back at the top to find some "hidden" places to get away from all the tourists.
