I attended a large medical meeting, held in the Conference Center adjacent to and a part of the hotel. Nothing could have been more convenient. The hotel is not luxurious, but it is clean and well-maintained, located across from the beach and safe. The personnel are polite and helpful. Barra is not far from Copacabana and Ipanema, but though the distance is short, the travel time (depending on the time of day) can be lengthy.

Room Tip: Select an ocean view if possible.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days while attending an international conference during Oct-Nov 2013. Surprisingly, they would not let me check in till 2 pm although I had arrived at 7 am after a 36 hour flight from India and they had my arrival and departure schedule. The next morning, the taps went dry at 8 am just as I was getting into the shower - turns out they had run out of water as they did not expect the load ! At the conference, the internet would not work - the hotel said they had made arrangements for 300 people although there were 700 attendees at the conference. Although I was staying at the hotel and internet was included in my room rate, this could only be accessed from my room and not from the conference rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor!
The rooms were okay..but the food was absolutely not worth writing about - the menu remained the same on all 5 days. And they showed a surprising lack of sensitivity - one common serving area for "vegetarian and halal" food !!
So if you are planning a trip to Rio, this is one hotel which is eminently avoidable !

As a guest during a global conference i would rate this hotel as a great hotel for business. It has everything yiu need under one roof and is in the quieter area of Rio at Barra. Only downside is having to pay quite a lot extra for internet - give the room rates i would expect this to be included in the price.

I stayed at this hotel three nights for a conference. It is located in Barra de Tijuca, right across the road from the beach and about 45 minutes from the international airport. The hotel is good, but not extraordinary. Internet was on the slow side, possibly due to the large meeting and the number of people using the internet. The breakfast offering was excellent. My room was large and clean, but did not include coffee making facilities. I had a view of an apartment building. There were two English language television channels available in my room, which included a smart TV that was not connected to the internet.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on a high floor with an ocean view.

I stayed at the Windsor for conference back in May, and I thought it was excellent. The room was in great condition, the hotel was a great meeting venue, and the food was excellent as well. The proximity to the beach was just icing on the cake.

Spent a few days here for a conference and it's well-equipped for that purpose. Conference room was spacious and the staff was organised. Lunch was the same all five days and was held in their regular buffet restaurant. But there is quite a bit of variety in the offerings, especially (and some might say, unfortunately) the desert table.

Rooms are nice enough for a hotel of this type. I like that there was a table to work at *and* a vanity table. The TV was set up more in the corner where it didn't take up as much room. Beds are pretty comfy. Bathroom was great. Lots of space, a toilet *and* bidet, and a large tub/shower with excellent water pressure. For some reason, housekeeping took our used face towels on the second day and we never saw replacements for the remainder of our trip. I would have complained but my curiosity got the better of me each day as I wondered if this would be the day we got some.

Location is away from the major tourist areas which is good in the sense that it's quieter and bad in the sense that there aren't many restaurants nearby. The beach across the road looked nice as did the rooftop pool area. Fitness centre was okay.

Major mark against them is internet access, which is odd considering they seem to be focused on being a conference hotel. It's R$40 per day per device. Worse, if you purchase in your room, you can't use it in the conference room and vice versa.

I waffled between "average" and "very good" and decided on the latter because we did enjoy ourselves during the stay.

Room Tip: If you need Internet access for more than one device, prepare to pay

I recently stayed at this property as part of a convention. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and appointment of the rooms, the clear presence of security personnel throughout the main lobby and convention area, and the quality of the food in the breakfast area. The proximity to the beach was most excellent, and though the water was quite cold, it was nice to take a walk on the beach and to look out over the area from the hotel's rooftop pool. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant, which was included in my room rate, was delicious. The wait staff was a bit slow bringing around coffee in the mornings, but I think that this was merely a function of the volume of people there due to the convention I was attending. Probably not the best hotel for tourists as the drives to Corcavado, Ipanema, and Copacabana were quite long.
