“Practical hotel with great location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012

At first, you may be surprised by a nice lobby. Front desk service is quite good.
Unfortunately, the rest is not the same.

You have two types of rooms - regular and "luxury".

We stayed 4 days in the hotel, the frist 3 in the regular and the last one in the "luxury", due to a problem in our room.

The regular rooms are quite simple. Small bathroom.. Very humble. Don't expect much, like the nice lobby.

The Luxury room was ok.. although the one we got had some cleaning problems in the bathroom.

Breakfast is quite nice.

The hotel has a great location, in the middle of Copacabana (not on the beach though). You have to walk 2 blocks. Also quite close to the Metro Station (around 5-10 minutes walking).

As we mentioned, Rio has gotten very expensive in hotels, and this is an interesting option to save some money, compared to other hotels in the region.
Since we barely stayed in the room (only to sleep).. we didn't mind the small and cheap rooms.

One problem: the beds are ridiculously small. A double bed barely fit me.

2 blocks away you have the Bicycle program from Rio's City Hall, so thats nice too!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that face the street. Lots of noise.

This hotel is ok. The location is great, but it really could be renewed. Everything is quite old, specially the bathrooms... I think it was built like in the fifties and never touched again. But what is really bad is the elevators: very small, only two of them for all the guests AND sfaff, they take a long time to travel... quite annoying. Stay on a lower floor so you can take the stairs and be free. The staff was nice to me, but I saw one of them being not very nice to a spanish couple and speaking spanish ridiculously bad. You have to pay for wi fi access, and its per minute, which i think is totally nonsense and a rip off. The computers were not working on one day, and in the other day the internet was so slow i gave up. There is a great cheap lan house a few steps from the right of the hotel though. But the rooms seemed very clean and breakfast was nice.

Room Tip: If you stay on a lower floor, you wont need to wait for the tiny and slow elevators.

Where to start? oldfashioned rooms, dirty pillowcovers, noisy rooms facing a busy avenue, smell of urine in the stairs and I could go on... the worst of it all is that you pay 200USD for a room at this place! Really, try to go somewhere else, and may be you want to avoid Copacabana altogether, I personally like Ipanema better.

Room Tip: do not accept a room facing the street, no matter what they tell you about the double window panes...

The location is great, the hotel is a good standard hotel. As Rio is a very expensive city, this hotel is a good budget option. The rooms space is good the furniture and decor are average. We had a plastic toilet seat. The hot water was good in the shower and the bathroooms are all tiled. They offer a good breakfast. The staff is attentive and the rooms are clean and cleaned every day.

We enjoyed our stay in this pleasant hotel, which is just two minutes walking from the beautiful Copacabana beach. Restaurants and shops are all around, bus stops as well, but the subway station is a 15 minute walk (so not far at all...). They say Rio can be unsafe, but I always felt very secure in the area of the hotel. Lovely airconditioned room, and a luxurious breakfast. It's a crowded part of Rio, so don't expect serene silence. And sometimes you need to wait a minute or two for the elevator that goes wayyy up or down... but hey, who cares, you're in Rio!

Cheap hotel considering location (very close to Copacabana). Simple rooms with older furniture, safe to keep you documents/money. Clean. Try not to get room facing back of the building-there is a big cooling/venting unit that is quite loud at night.
Friendly staff and good continental breakfast.
