Overall not too bad for the price paid. Was here on business so was a good location for that, but is too far away from everything else so not a good hotel if you want to see the sights. All of them are at least an hour away! The restaurant serves a decent buffet breakfast. We did not have any other meals at the hotel but the menu seems pretty basic. The hotel is in a residential area but very few amenities in walking distance. There's a small park, which is popular for joggers and a supermarket and pharmacy but there are no decent restaurants, so a taxi ride is required. Allow 15-20 minutes for taxi ordering. The staff were all pleasant but could be more helpful. When we arrived we were told that the reception would change us some money in the morning, but then found out they can't - we had to walk 1 hour to the nearest working ATM, I had to get my keycard programmed everyday and the staff seemed unsure how long I was staying, the porter took me to the wrong room and when someone tried to ring me at the hotel the phone wasn't answered. Having said all of that the rooms, whilst small were very clean, plenty of hot water, aircon was great and Wi-Fi was good. The problems were not major and wouldn't take much for them to improve the experience - just a bit more attention to detail.

I stayed at this hotel when visiting a conference at Riocentro, which is a 15-minute taxi ride away. And that is the only reason I can imagine for choosing this hotel. The hotel had just opened and there were a number of problems with the toilet, the elevators, the taxi service, poor WiFi coverage, and so on, and so on. The hotel is also situated in a residential area (with lots of construction work going on), meaning that there is not much around apart from a grocery store and a few restaurants at the local shopping centre. Among the positive aspect; everything is brand new, the pool is large, and the breakfast was alright.

the hotel just open and it's very evident.
In first is far, far, away from everything in Rio and takes a lot of time (min 1 hour ride of taxi) to go anywhere.
The staff seems subpar in their preparation, they insecure of their duties, don't know how to handle customers, and few speak english enough to understand you.
I had the impression at least one guy could not read (he asked somebody else to read an address I wrote down).
Anyway the hotel is in the middle of nowhere with no facilities, no restaurants, no bars, and no public transportation around.
The only way to get away is a taxi which the concierge routinely fail to summon.

I had to wait 2 hours before being told that they had no idea when my room was ready... I just had to go in a (badly cleaned) toilet to shave and change into business clothes to don't miss my meetings.

The elevators stopped working 2 times in 3 days...
All the rooms (mine and my colleagues) didn't have any hangers, and TVs didn't work.

The rooms are ok and the bed comfortable... unless your AC unit breaks down and start spilling water (like happened to my colleagues): instead of repairing they just put a bucket under it.

In first the hotel is not in Rio itself but far, far away from the center.
It's a new area so nobody really know how to reach the place.

The service is simply unacceptable for this level of hotel: few of the staff speak english, do not give information (e.g. how long to get the room ready) not attentive, and simply inexperienced.

This hotel is far from ready to accept guest, very few things work and the staff is not trained capable to support the guests

wait a few months before trying this hotel, if ever.
maybe it's ok for business but nothing else than that

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in October 2013, 10 days after it had officially opened. It was not really ready for the general public judging by the building rubbish in the corridors, an almost total lack of signage and the not yet open swimming pool and spa facilities.

Front of house staff did not seem particularly well trained, spoke no English or Spanish (apart from Luciana) and had no idea how to get us into the centre of Rio. Be warned -- this hotel is NOT in Rio so don't stay here unless you have reason to be in Barra de Tijuca. Don't even try looking for the bus stop (blue buses are for card holders only and the regular bus takes over an hour) -- take a taxi.

On a positive note, it is a very quiet hotel as you're in the middle of nowhere and the showers have very good water pressure!

With minor finishing touches still going on the hotel is nevertheless busy with guests. Booking in was conducted smoothly and facilities well pointed out. Swimming pool not yet ready but free WiFi is welcome. Rooms are adequate for short business trip but a little small for a weeks holiday.
Some staff appeared nervous and unsure of their duties but there was good supervision around which quickly sorted out a few minor issues my group experienced.
