Firstly the staff make this place what it is. Always there with a welcome smile and helpful hints for weary traveller's

I stayed in a dorm for the first time in ages. The bed is comfortable, the shower area ample and clean. It does take a little time for hot water so be patient. The storage lockers could be a bit larger, backpacks won't fit in them

The property is much better than your average hostel. A great pool area, stunning views of Rio and comfortable dining area.

Getting a taxi driver who knows where the hostel is can be difficult so always have one of the free maps in your back pocket

I would stay here again, in a private suite as I have become fussy in my old age

Remember to bring a padlock for your locker kids

This hotel is based in a quiet, relaxing location only a few minutes walk to the old historical village centre and the bus stop to the city. It is modern and very clean hotel with commanding views over the city and a lovely swimming pool/patio area. The en-suite rooms were quiet and comfortable and reasonably priced. The breakfast which was served on the patio was of good quality. The staff, especially the man on reception, was outstanding. We walked down hill into the city and caught the bus back up to the village to see all the sights. The climb to the hotel from the village is quite steep so you need to be quite able. We have stayed in different parts of Rio in the past but would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers.

Room Tip: Take one of the three outside rooms.

I stayed in shared, hostel type accommodation in this hotel (which has private rooms too) and it was great. Slightly more than average hoste accommodation in terms of cost, it was more than made up for by having superior quality breakfasts and facilities including use of a pool. The staff could not have been friendlier and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is new and modern and they have made a huge effort in all aspects including keeping the place clean and tidy. The day I left they were training staff to run a cocktail bar next to the pool and we were offered free cocktails all afternoon. Clearly a case of wanting to perfect service before charging for it. The best place I stayed during 3 weeks in Rio. I was on the lookout for budget accommodation and deals, and this place won, hands down. There was some concern about accessibility, but they have now partnered with a local taxi, and it is no problem any more. Organize your transfers through them.
