This superbly located hotel is near some of the most fun clubs, discos, and restaurants in all of Rio. Most rooms are two-room suites, are clean and comfortable, with all basic amenities. It's just a two block walk to the vast Copacabana Beach, in a safe neighborhood, with cafes and shops all around. Mini kitchen allows you to be "At Home" with all the modern conveniences. A great place to stay, and worth the money -- since you are getting a suite for the price of a room. My favorite place to stay in Rio.

I stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night in early May 2009. It was a fine hotel - clean, well-kept, quiet. But nothing special, either. I was with a Portuguese-speaker, so she did all the communicating with the front desk staff, but they seemed very friendly, helpful, and competent.

The location of the Princess Copacabana is great - a couple small blocks from the beach, toward the Fort Copacabana end. I walked over to the Hippie Market in Ipanema on Sunday morning. There are numerous stores, shops, and restaurants all over the place.

Breakfast is included and was not *bad* (certainly in comparison to what usually passes for free breakfast in hotels in the USA), but I've come to expect much more from Brazilian hotel breakfasts. Relatively little fruit, few rolls, and NO little cheese-bread balls (Pao de Queijo) for breakfast??! Sad.

Internet access was an extra daily charge (either 10 or 20 Reias.) There was a small fridge in the room. No safe in the room. Our room had a balcony that looked over a concrete courtyard surrounded by other high-rises.

We paid R$269 per night, but it was a weekend with a hugely important soccer match and the Olympic Committee was in town. We had a hard time finding a room in Rio at all. So you may find a better deal than that.

Quick note to Americans - the Brazilian hotels use a system in which you have to put your room key into a slot by the door to activate the electricity to the room. Don't plan to leave anything charging while you're out and be prepared to reset any electrical alarm clocks every time you come back. But that's everywhere, not just here.

All in all, if it weren't for the missing Pao de Queijo, I'd probably stay here again, but those are a pretty important item for me when I'm down there! ;)

As a fist time traveler to Rio, I had a great time. I didn’t spend much time in the hotel room but the time I did spend was great. I had a large room with a kitchen and separate bedroom. The front desk attendants spoke English and were very patient with my broken Portuguese. The breakfast every morning was good and saved me a considerable amount of money. I had a late flight and they allowed me to check out around 4pm. With most hotels DO NOT USE THE MINI BAR. I had to pay around 15 reais for a beer and soda. Only 4 at the local market. Also they charge for every phone call even local calls. This is my only complaint. The added bonus is that they do not treat you like a child when you want to have company. They are concerned about security and want night guest to show ID and sign in…a minor inconvenience. All and all next time I come to Copa….this is where I will stay.

This hotel was my first one from by Rio/Buenos Aires/Iguazu roundtrip and I really don´t have any very negative points to say about this hotel.

The location is ok (just 3 blocks from the Copacabana beach) but as the hotel is very new, the staff at the reception is not the most helpfull and they seemed (at least some of them) not to have big experience at all in hotel / tourist services.

Each time I had a question about a location or visit, they did not know what to answer or did not answer at all.

The rooms are ok and clean, most of them have balcony, the pool is just average and you do not get much sun as surounded by buildings. I suppose nobody cares as you have the beach :-)

The wifi connection was also not very strong and sometimes didn´t work at all and had to call the reception.

Finally, the breakfust could be improved as the juices for example are very very basic and low quality: 99% water and 1% juice. Most pastries are very do not look very light.

If you find a very good deal for this hotel, I would may be recommend it but otherwise think twice.

In Rio, you really have to pay a high price to get a perfect hotel as for example a 4 stars hotel would be in Europe a 3 star hotel

Princess Copacabana is a very good choice for travelers going to RIO! Very well located (2 blocks from Copacabana Beach, near Arpoador, few minuts from Sugar Loaf, Ipanema, Leblon and Downtown), Princess is a new hotel, very clean, with good service, breakefast and rooms. The rates are not expensive if you book the hotel by internet or with a travel agency. The hotel is even better because the Metro Station is just 2 blocks from it. The Metro in Rio is very good and can be used to go to most of the atractions. I really recomend Princess Copacabana for everybody!
