Hotelinho Urca is a gem placed in one of the most beautiful Rio de Janeiro neighbourhoods. It's staff is very helpfull, and it's rooms are clean, the provide a great breakfast, it's safe and very affordable. It was a pleasure to stay there. I hope that I'll be there again soon.

The roof terrace has a pool, and is a very nice place to talk to the other guests. Urca isn't as hype as other Rio neighbourhoods but it has nice places to eat, drink, and it isn't expensive to take a cab to go from there to Leblon or Copacabana. And you can walk to Botafogo, or take a bus if you want to take the subway there.

The location is superb, the view from the terrace, the breakfast, the private terrace with a hammock my little Faustina enjoyed, the feeling of safety in the neighborhood, the vicinity of a mall like Rio Sul which is very helpful in rainy days but... above all the said things Hotelinho Urca has a champion named Raphael, efficient and no-nonsense as the Swiss he is and friendly as the Brazilian he also is. Mr Raphael Ruedi ran the Hotelinho so superbly that transforms the Hotelinho in a 4 star hotel with his skills. Chapeau to the owners of Hotelinho to have some classy manager.

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at Hotelinho. It is situated in a beautiful spot at the foot of Sugarloaf mountain, with a gorgeous waterfront view in a safe neighbourhood. The staff were friendly and helpful, staying on a bit later to allow us to check-in late, with helping us organise our trips around the city and our airport transfer. The room we stayed in was lovely and we had easy access to the rest of the city with the bus stop right across the road. The breakfast was great, included in the room charge and eaten on the roof terrace with the great view. My only gripe was that we were supposed to just share our bathroom with one other room that only had one person occupying it, but in the morning many other people used it too - which was a bit annoying, because when we needed to use it in the morning it was often occupied.

Dear NinjaSmurf,

Thanks for your evaluation of Hotelinho da Urca.

It has been a big pleasure to welcome you here.

We are happy that your stay has been pleasant and hope you´ll come back again on a next trip.

About the shared bathroom problem, we are sorry that it bothered you so much. It is generally used just by one person. The other users were quite unexpected. But we hope that this problem didn´t spoil your good feeling about our place.

Best regards,

Andreas and Hotelinho´s staff

Nice little hotel just opposite the waterfront in Urca. Our room was clean and nicely decorated, if a little dark- however it was the best-value room in the house, and the more expensive rooms have great views. The bathroom was lovely, though the water from the shower was not hot. The roof terrace is beautiful, with good views of the bay and Christ the Redeemer while you eat breakfast, which is delicious. The staff are friendly and very helpful with everything we needed- they were happy to serve us a late breakfast one morning. Urca is a nice area- a little out of the way, but very safe, with a few good bars and restaurants, and plenty of buses into the centre. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The cheapest rooms are comparatively a bit dark, however the price and the view from the communal ro...

Dear Mister G,

Thank you so much for your evaluation and nice comments.

As we are really close to the Rock of Urca, it is true that it can be a little bit dark sometimes but we hope that you enjoyed your stay in Rio de Janeiro and we would be really happy to welcome you again on a next trip.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hotelinho. The room was a good size and clean and the view was incredible. The location is great with a bus stop very close which serves buses all over the city. Urca is a nice, safe neighborhood they also arranged an airport transfer. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts are fantastic!

Room Tip: We originally booked the double room with private bathroom but it was on the back end with no view...

I stayed here one night and found the staff/owners very helpful and concerned about their guest's comfort and well-being. The rooms are small with comfortable beds and lots of TV channels with English options. I liked the non-slip floor surface in the shower and the bathroom was clean with fluffy towels. The locks aren't very secure, heavy old-style keys that are easy to pick and the entire building is permeated with the cooking odors of the restaurant next door. The area is good and the terrace has pleasant views.

Room Tip: be careful when booking to note if there's a sea view of mountain view, mountain view is really...

Dear Xena888,

Thanks for your evaluation.

We are happy that you like our staff and commodities.

About the keys, we are thinking about changing all of them. Despite of Urca being the most secure area in Rio de Janeiro, we want our guests to feel safe.

About the smells of the restaurant, they are currently installing a system that will avoid this kind of inconvenience in the future. You can consider the problem as solved.

This place was truly the best spot to start our South American adventure. Our rooftop room was very simple and not large, but extremely comfortable and kept lovely and clean. The common areas afford a lovely view of Christ the Redeemer and Botafogo.

All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Andres, the owner speaks great English and was able to help us throughout or stay in Rio. The cleaning and food ladies were friendly too and put on a great breakfast every morning. Truly special.

The location is also a great, extremely safe neighborhood and helps you find your feet in what can be an overwhelming city at first. Several main buses also stop right out the front of the hostel and taxis are easy to find.

This place is certainly not a luxury stay, so upmarket travelers may not find it to their liking, but those who are more open minded will find an extremely clean, comfortable and safe place to stay. Needless to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Dear guest,

Thank you so much for your evaluation and nice comments.

We are very happy to know that your start in South America has been pleasant by us.

About our rooms, we actually have very different kind of rooms, some of them are very fancy (especially our Suite Master with Sea view). Most of them have AC, Cable TV, nice private bathroom and beautiful furniture.

We like to have different kind of travellers, that´s why we have different kind of rooms. But all our guests are educated and nice and it is a big pleasure to welcome them.

Best regards,

Andreas and Hotelinho´s staff.
