My brother and I stayed here for a few nights during Carnival since all the other hotels were triple the price they typical are. We figured we’d be out and about most of the time during Carnival anyways so we thought we’d stay some money, which wasn’t a bad idea. We did end up transferring to Ipanema beach after a few days. The hotel is ok but it’s far from the beach. You end up spending a lot of $ on taxis and you have to wait a good 30 minutes for them to arrive.

Although in "Rio Centro" do not think it is at all near all the usual attractions one thinks of in Rio, "Christ The Redeemer", Sugar Loaf Mountain, Coppacabana Beach, Carnival, The Airport, they are a long and costly taxi ride away. The building itself is new and a bit stark, probably here because the Olympic park is nearby. The catering is also not up to European standards though the staff do their best to be helpful. There is a free shuttle bus to take you to the large shopping mall about 10 minutes away or the Barrca Beach about 15 minutes. There is nothing else around the Hotel to make you want to stop until of course the Olympics arrive in 2016 when it might be a convenient place to stop but for Rio itself aim more for the beach or harbour area.

I was initially confused when my taxi pulled up and there was no beach in site, however this hotel is new, clean and modern. This is one of the best hotels I stayed in outside the US! The staff is really friendly and in true Brazillian will do everything to make you comfortable. THE BEST PART OF THE HOTEL IS THE LE CORPUS SPA IN THE HOTEL!!! This spa has a package for around $100 bucks you get a body scrub, sauna, facial and massage! The massage and scrub is performed by two ladies so its four hands on you!!! PURE HEAVEN :)

Room Tip: If you do stay here, you can arrange a taxi to take you sightseeing to Copacabana, Impanema, Sugarloaf, etc. or you can walk ten minutes to the bus stop and take public transportation.

The Ramada is located some distance from the center of Rio and the famous beaches. .Just built, it is very close to where the Olympics will be held. It was the most affordable price for our Carnival Trip. Although brand new the design of the entrance and lobby leaves a lot to be desired if they are trying to attract tourist as well as business travelers. You have to carry your bags up several steps before you get to the lobby. There is a ramp but it is not centrally located. The lobby itself is small with only 4chairs. Breakfast is served in a small conference room on poor quality tables with only a large wall tv as decoration.A young person with a clip board stands outside to make sure only hotel guest enter for breakfast .
Hotel lacks any ambiance! Some rooms are not finished yet. Doors are kept open in unfinished rooms. Very dangerous for young children
The only saving grace is the staff. All are very friendly and helpful.Their eagerness to please makes up for any negatives
The front desk staff was especially helpful . The executive staff needs to improve what they can before the olympics . At this point they are"not ready yet"

Room Tip: Back rooms look out onto abandoned construction. All this might change by the time the Olympics are held
