Really loved this place. Really cool, hip design - very colorful and has a few art installations. Very clean and modern. Great outdoor space with a bar and tables for where breakfast was served. Good breakfast which is included in the price. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I arrived on a friday night and they had a party with great DJ and a live band. It was a memorable experience. It was not just the hostel dwellers but also other people from the community. Because it starting raining everything got moved indoors so it was quite loud and the music was playing until about midnight. So if you are really concerned about a quiet place with a good night sleep this may not be the place for you.
Not really in one of the main tourist areas but is centrally located close to the subway for quick access to both the north and south parts of the city. In a way it was kind of nice to not be in the touristy areas - felt more like real life rio.
I stayed in the female dorm on the ground floor. It was a little bit noisy since the reception was on one side and street on the other. The rooms upstairs seemed to be a bit quieter.
Only issue for me is that it was not too easy to meet other people because the majority of travelers that stayed here primarily spoke spanish and portugese. (reception spoke english fine though).
I recommend the italian restaurant right across the street - the food was excellent.
