“Great Location and Excellent Staffs”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

I stayed with Windsor Copa Hotel for 3 nights and had a great stay there.

* The location is excellent with just one block away from Copacabana Beach
* The airport transfer shuttle stops right outside this hotel so that you can use Rio Shuttle bus to transfer between this hotel and the airport. If you travel solo, this will save you half of the taxi cost. (Note: if you travel from airport to the hotel, the shuttle bus might not stop right outside the hotel but on a street corner. You should write down the address on a piece of paper, which will help you find the hotel easily. From the location where the bus stops, it is a 5 minute walk at most to the hotel.)
* The hotel is 5-minute walk to a Metro station, where you can go to main attractions in Rio and connect to other buses where Metro does not reach.
* The room is clean and comfortable. However, the single bed is a bit small, which fortunately does not bother me. The bathroom is excellent and the water pressure is just so strong.
* The breakfast is really good and it is one of a few best I ever had.
* The staffs there are all professional, helpful and patient. Most speak good enough English.
* The hotel provides free beach tower to guests and free wifi.

The only drawback with this hotel is that it is a bit far away from nearby grocery store and bank. You are expected to walk around 12 minutes to the nearest Rio Sul grocery store and 15-18 minutes to a nearest Citibank or HSBC.

Overall, I have a great stay with this hotel and will go back again. However, the hotel is pricey and if you are a backpacker traveling on budget, this might not be a choice for you.

Not a bad hotel, staff friendly and kept very clean. A relatively new hotel, very close to the beach and felt safe walking around local area during the day of course. It is however geared up for the businessman who just wants to stay a few nights, breakfast is good but limited for choices. We paid 50% of the room rate upfront around 2 months before visiting, they lost this payment and was down to us to prove that we had paid this by logging into the bank account to show the transaction, not a very good impression left upon checkout, and this is often the thing that people tend to remember. Be weary if you use this payment option.

Very nice experience of staying at this hotel. It's a recently opened hotel and you can feel it's still fresh. The room could have been bigger but anyway in Rio one doesn't come to sit in the hotel room. Location is perfect - just 100 meters from the Copacabana Beach. Breakfast was really good, and staff was very professional and helpful (Flavio, Amanda and others) speaking fluent English. I would definitely look for staying again at this hotel.

The hotel feels pretty new, clean and modern. The room wasn't massive but had everything you would need.

Wifi worked well and the included breakfast was really good. The staff spoke excellent english and were very helpful (they rang up the tour company for me when they decided not to pick me up one day). Their local knowledge could be improved (the question of where's good to eat caused unexpected confusion!) but they were friendly so I'll let them off.

The location is great, I don't know, 3 minutes walk from the beach, tops. But because it's not on the actual sea front it was a fair bit cheaper than other hotels. The hotel even give you a beach towel, perfect.

A very nice and reasonably priced hotel in a good location in the Copacabana area. I like.

Hotel Windsor Copacabana

This hotel reopened under the Windsor Hotel banner in  June 2012. It is only a block from Copacabana beach, very close to shopping & dining, and is very well-served by both taxis and buses for those wishing to explore Rio, while remaining  a quiet, tranquil retreat in a busy part of town.
We were impressed by the quality of the refurbishments that matter to us: fast modern elevators, air conditioning that works, good lighting, a modern bathroom and shower, high quality bed, electronic safe, and a strong, fast WiFi connection. The room size was compact but adequate, and scrupulously clean.  The staff were great: friendly, competent, helpful and welcoming, and the complementary breakfast must set a standard to which other hotels at this price, in this area, will aspire.
You could easily get worse accommodation and pay more for it in Copacabana.
( We stayed 2 nights, booked by G Adventures as the part of a tour.)

Stayed in this hotel shortly after it opened, as I was down there for the Rio+20 conference. Considering the cost, they need to up their game (although I don't know if they like everyone else were just trying to squeeze the last drop of money out of their guests during the event). Despite being on my own I was given a room with two single beds and had to have the front desk send someone up to put the beds together (apparently most of their rooms don't have double beds). The sheets are pretty horrid-- some polyester blend that isn't comfortable to sleep on at all.

The room was a decent size, and kept spotlessly clean by the staff. The bathroom was large and the shower good. The toiletries are pretty tragic and oddly only include shampoo and conditioner rather than any soap or bath gel and lotion.

The staff were always polite and tried to be helpful, the problem more often than not was that they just weren't helpful. Most of them don't seem to have come from Rio so didn't know where things were, couldn't offer help on recommendations and several times sent me on wild goose chases. You got the feeling that they were all trying but that none of them had really ever worked in the hotel industry before.

It's also worth noting that they do not have a pool and aren't on the main street.

Dear guest,

First of all I would like to thank you for taking your time to help us with your comments.

I'm disappointed that our services were not up to your expectations. You can be sure that your words will be shown to our Reception staff in order to improve the knowledge about the area. Regarding the double bed issue it can be solved for your next visit as we also have king size beds. And about our amenities, at the time when you were here we didn't have soap, however we do have it now.

In case you decide to give us another chance it will be a pleasure to welcome you back at the Windsor Copa.

Sincerely, Mona Samir
