Unfortunately its out of work due to an accident last year. But i thik that is the best way to know Santa Tereza and its restaurants. Hop on Carioca Station, hop off at Largo dos Guimarães and enjoy one of the restaurants in the area (Sobrenatural, etc.) you'll love it!

A very old and quaint tram, which goes through serpentine streets in a charming neighborhood. When it passes over the large old aqueduct of Arcos da Lapa, if offers a great view of downtown Rio. The tram used to be relatively safe, since it was quite slow, but there was a major derailing in August 2011, and it is currently out of service.

Dont run the tram. Only take photos. There was a serious accident a few months ago.

The tram is not safe at all. The cars are clearly in very bad conditions. Very bad maintenance is evident. There are strange people among the passengers who seem to be just waiting for an opportunity to rob you! It is a shame, as the tram swings through one more of the countless wonderful places of Rio. Houses of the 19th and mid 20th centuries prevail but unfortunately too many "favelas" took the place of former rain forest spots...
