“A must see”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

Best beach in this area hands down. Get a feel of the locals and order their local beer and eat corn from a street vendor.
The locals are nice and you see them doing active sports all over the beach.

“Must visit when in Rio”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

Easy to commute to Ipanema - by metro or bus or even walking from Copacabana. Lots of beautiful people on the beach albeit as is the delight of Brazil ..... all shapes and sizes are completely acceptable. Take care of your valuables although overall it was very safe. Be careful when swimming because there is a very strong current. For a wonderful people watching experience, stroll along the waters edge or the beach side pavement. So very much to see!

“Nice but touristy, messy”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

Too much trash. Prefer the more intimate Copacabana Beach nearby. Still lots of vendors and kiosks and good people-watching. More tourists than Copacabana.

“Bodies everywhere...”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

It is what it is. Big beach, big surf, lots of bodies in various forms, sizes and shapes. The beach vendors have an array of product at fairly good prices. They ask and move on. Shopping nearby is a little more upscale. No street vendors. You don't have to stay in in Ipanema. The Metro can bring you there in minutes.

“Beware ar night”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

The beach is beautiful during the day although the currents are strong and the vendors with their shops beneath large umerallas are unbelievable Beware at night as the night life is good but then so are the pick pockets and criminals
