The Copacabana beach has great waves and lots of shops to eat or drink. I know it definitely has an information office just beside the beach side. I'm not sure if there is more than one because the beach is long.
Food around Copacabana is normally expensive but that's also due to the occurrence of the World Cup. Buffets are probably your cheapest option. But there are some great restaurants and affordable but it takes some time to find them because it's a vast place.
You can rent umbrellas, chairs, whatever else u need for the beach.
There's water showers to get cleaned from the salty water.
And plenty of souvenir shops in which u can negotiate a price.

No visit to Rio can be complete without visiting Copacabana.
Should you plan to swim here
1. do not take any unnecessary stuff with you especially money or camera
2. beware of strong and sudden waves

Rio has so much to offer and copacabana is no exception. Great beach, great restaurants, great boardwalk. Just keep your eye on your belongings, don't act and look like a tourist and you will be fine. When it gets dark avoid going to the inner and less crowded streets near the avenue.

The best moments at Copacabana beach are early in the morning. Walk at sunrise, breath, listen to the sounds of breaking waves, meditate. The second best is the sunset-time, when Copa fills with football and volleyball players. This is the time to stop and have a caipirinha in one of the several newly renovated kiosks. Actually I prefer the old kiosks, few of them still exist.Prices have gone up; a coconut is 5 reais, a caipirinha around 6-8 reais. Some kiosks have live music occasionally. The kiosk managed by the TV-company Globo, at Posto 5, is a good place to join Brazilians and watch telenovelas.

At the Leme end there is a nice small bar on the slopes of the hill, where you can eat friend fish and have a cold bear. At the other end (in front of Sofitel) is the fishermen colony. A great place to hang out and take pictures.

Copacabana is certainly crowded during summer weekends, but you can always find your place during the week. The water can occasionally be surprisingly clean, and sometimes it is totally dirty and swimming is not recommended. Watch out also for the strong currents.

Copacabana is more "peoples beach" than Ipanema. It is vibrant and always full of life.

If you haven`t been at Copacabana - you haven`t been in Rio. This is one of Brazil`s postcard, great beach with lots of different activities. Lots of small cafes if you get hungry. People selling all kinds of food and things just at the beach line.
