“Nice way to spend four hours”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

The garden does not have blooming plants but does have some beautiful palms. Great photo opportunities with waterfalls and tropical plants including the avenue of the palms. Water fountains are throughout the garden. I had to ask for a map in a secondary building. There was some information that there was a concert at 14:30 but none of the attendants could say if there was or not. The Orchid House is closed for renovation.

“An oasis in the middle of Rio”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

This was a beautiful place to visit. We spent a few hours walking around the gardens, admiring the flora and fauna. The orchid house was under renovation so we could not go there, A walk through the rain forest was so relaxing and saw quite a few butterflies along the way. This place is a must see while in Rio.

“Even in the wet it's a place not to miss”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

The day we visited it was raining, but this did not detract from the amazing array of plants. I even managed a photograph of a humming bird!
This is somewhere you could stay for a day and still not manage to see everything.

“Nice walk with amazing flowers”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

We had a 1 hour walk in the botanical garden and enjoyed it a lot. Many different plants are nicely arranged in the garden. It's a very quite place and wonderful escape from the very busy Rio!

“Easy stroll”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

The gardens were lovely - the day was cloudy so I couldn't go to Sugarloaf or Big Jesus! So was recommended the gardens. They are lovely to walk around - some great nooks and crannies and interesting sculptures. There was a fantastic photographic exhibition near the entrance/exit and the Japanese garden was lovely
The cafe and facilities were brilliant too
