In Barra de Guaratiba, a little bit far from downtown! Book a visit, It's worth the trip. Burle max is a icone in his area. What a place to be! good to visit with children.

“What a pain!”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

My wife is a landscaper, loves Burle Marx and was determined to visit. It is an hour taxi ride out of Rio. You have to reserve. If you are late you can't get in. It is a guided tour with guards surrounding you so you cannot leave the tour and wander the grounds. I hated it. Perhaps if you 'get' Burle Marx it's good. But never again. BTW, try the telephone number to reserve, useless.
This is the worst review I have given anything, but it deserves it.

If you are staying more than 3 days in Rio and you with to see "another" Rio, don't miss Sitio Burle Marx.
The reservation is absolutely necessary and if you are going in the high season it must be done in advance ( a couple of days before) because, in order to preserve the nature, only a limited number of visitors is accepted per day.We made the reservation by phone, but it should be possible to make on Internet
The nature is absolutely fantastic and with entrance ticker you will get a guided tour of the site, in addiction, if you are lucky, you can see different kind of small animals ( we so an incredibile colpir ed caterpillar).
We departed from Rio at approximatly 9:00 am, so we had the opportunity to sesso the Praiinha and Grumari ( 2 nice beaches) before visiting Sitio Burle Max. On the way back, stop at Praia of Pepe', na Barra de Tijuca, if you like to see young and fashionable brasileiros, drinking a goodThis bere at the su set.

“More than I expected”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

I had the free time, and low expectations.. but was stunned and amazed at this inexpensive enlightening tour. The location takes time and a little local knowledge to find - but the two hours admiring the incredible talent of Burle Marx was more than I imagined. Go if you love plants, the outdoors, art, collecting..
