Room was smallish.
Toilet initially nonfunctional but the maid fixed it.
Bed springs coming out but biggest issue is WiFi.
They charge for it but it only works sitting in the lobby.
My room on the 8th floor was a WiFi no go zone.

A modest hotel in a reasonably convenient location. The staff were certainly not enthusiastic and you had to pay for Wi-Fi. OK for a short stay but not a memorable experience. The rooms are smallish and have no tea or coffee making facilities - but I believe this is common in South America.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter

The worst hotel experience in my life! Room is dorm size, ~150 sq ft total, window unit AC sounds like a freight train coming through. Room condition is really worn and "dirty feeling". NO HOT WATER for the morning shower. Disappointing staff service/responsiveness. At check in, tried to charge me 20% more than my online booking rate. OK location, but that's about the only non-negative.

For the size and condition, price should be 1/2 to 1/3 of what they charge. If I hadn't prepaid, would ditch this place and find something else.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. Stay away!

Room Tip: At another hotel

, Don't stay in this 3&1/2 star hotel in a single room unless you intend to be out all day, & like to sleep at night with a noisy air cond in the hot, stuffy & small single rooms.
There is a small swimming pool. The breakfast bar is passable. The staff take some time to be efficient.
It is in a convenient location near to subway station and a multitude of buses travelling to and from Leblon & Ipanema beach areas.
.

Room Tip: try the double or twin perhaps

We didn't trust the reviews and stayed here anyway. We were idiots. This review will sound like hyperbole. It is not. We are experienced travelers and this place was unbelievable.

A male hotel staff member walked into our room in the early morning without knocking or announcing himself. To repeat: Strange men walk into your room at a whim.

The staff is aloof, entitled, rude, and underhanded--"slimy" is a good adjective. The rooms were not ready when we arrived, and when we did get our rooms, they were not the rooms we reserved. The entire place smells like a college freshman dorm: cleaning products, smoke, and bathroom odors. The rooms are TINY. The linens are of poor quality. There are no non-smoking rooms, and the stench permeates the place. There was a large cockroach in our room.

The Internet barely works when it's working, which is about half of the time. The pool is very small. The workout room is out-of-commission. The breakfast is awful (I had chicken nuggets and my companion had cereal in a coffee mug with warm milk).

The place is the antithesis of elegant. The ceiling had fallen down in the hallway outside of our room, and the repairman was plastering over the hole in the morning with his ladder directly in front of our room door. We visited in late November and the lobby looked as though kitschy Christmas had vomited all over the place (a Christmas tree decorated with strobing blue lights, a parachuting Santa hung from the lobby ceiling, etc).

We switched hotels after one night, even though we couldn't get a refund. The icing on the cake: The hotel charged an additional fee to call us a cab to our new hotel.

Room Tip: None of the rooms are good. Avoid at all costs.
