“Perfect location - good value”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

I gladly ditto what everyone else has posted on this hotel. Great staff, clean rooms, wonderful breakfast - cannot beat the location. I got our room via Hotwire so got a super rate especially considering that we arrived on New Year's Day! The room was smaller than expected but definitely adequate. Hotel is very quiet and very clean. I would definitely stay here again when in Rio.

We stayed 8 days in room 801 (ocean-view) and had fabulous days in Rio. The Service was perfect and the Hotel-Staff always helpful and friendly. The roof terrace has one of the best views on the Copacabana, no doubts, during the day & in the evening with a last good-night-drink, fantastic ! ... and it is the only Hotel-Roof-Terrace on the Copacabana with view to the Sugar-Loaf and Christ at the same time !!
5 min. walk and you are on the Ipanema beach (more cleaner and less water pollution (crime rate is the same anyway - but we never had problems). Breakfast was as expected… fresh fruits and bakery… no complaints…it is a City-Hotel and not a 6 Stars-Spa on the Maldives (just for those who rate City-Hotels with 2 stars based on a booked room without ocean view… ;-) … Can absolutely recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: If you are looking for a Hotel on the beach... it should always be with ocean-view... look to my pic...

Hotel well situated and taxis just in front. The rooms are clean and a good size. Our's were on the 9th floor and very quiet. The breakfast is excellent ! The pool on the top floor is quite small but enough for refreshing. You have a view over whole Copacabana. I can recommend this hotel !

Room Tip: swimmig pool quite small but enough for refreshing

My sons and I stayed here over Christmas, 2013. We had 3 single beds waiting for us after an overnight flight and the room was kept very clean throughout our visit. We were grateful that the front desk staff spoke English, this helped in understanding our options in exploring Rio. Note that the Orla is at the far end of Copacabana beach, a 15 min walk to Ipanema, we liked this location given the different vibes available between Copacabana and ipanema, both within a short walking distance. The breakfast buffet has something for everyone, one small improvement would be to extend breakfast hours even a half hour to 11am to accommodate it's vacationers schedules. The rooftop pool is perfect for a dip or a break from the beach across the road. Checking out was very convenient and laid back given we needed to store our luggage after checkout midday for another overnight flight home. Thanks to the bellhop for his service. We reflect on our stay at the Orla as good value for the price for Rio, laid back and a positive aspect of our trip.

A note on safety, as it is a concern in Rio, the Orla locks it's front doors at a certain time each Eve, but I'm not sure what criteria or process is used in allowing admission to the building after this. I suggest this be more clearly communicated to their paying guests and would expect/happy that we need to show our room key/name at least before proceeding to the elevators at this time of the evening. This process is not currently the case, simply waving at the front desk allowed us access to the building.

To start a 3 month adventure in South America I wanted to start with a touch of luxury, so chose the orla for it's great beach front location. The staff were very friendly, upon arrival we were offered assistance with the local area and given all the relevant information.

As a young gay couple it can also sometimes be a bit touch and go when we ask for a double bed - thankfully, the receptionist asked us and didn't bat an eyelid (there have been awkward moments at other hotels, believe me!) The room was a nice size; only an internal view sadly, but when there's such a fantastic terrace complete with pool and gym on the roof who cares about the view from the window!

The room was cleaned to a high standard daily, and the minibar kept stocked. Despite not ordering room service whilst here we did look at the menu and it seemed like good, reasonably priced food. Breakfast was lovely - alongside bacon and scrambled egg was a selection of cold meats, cheeses and fruits. The restaurant staff were helpful and friendly (although spoke very little English - however, that is by no means a complaint!) we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast each day.

I cannot remember the name of the receptionist who helped us out on our last day, but he helped us find boat times to ihla grande and connecting coach times to minimise the time we had to spend waiting around; his English was impeccable and all I remember is he studied English in England some 20 odd years ago - a huge credit to this hotel! In all, I would highly recommend the Orla. Who wouldn't want to sit above copacabana with a cold brahma watching the world to by?

I cannot fault this hotel!

The hotel is clean, in a good location, rooms are nice but undistinguished. The problem centers on the front desk attitude - which can be somewhat cavalier - and their response when things don't go right. For example, our safe stopped working. When we reported it, they sent someone up who couldn't get the door to open either. The front desk then suggested it was our fault and that we had forgotten the code. Not true. There were 2 of us, we both knew the code and had used it successfully for 3 previous days. Then ended up having to replace the safe after manually cracking it open - and that was done 12 hours later. In the meantime, we had no access to money, iphones, etc., that were in the safe. Furthermore, the room next to us had "girls gone wild" who partied late, screamed, banged around the room, stood in the hallway and shouted, etc., and when we and the room next to us complained, absolutely nothing was done to deal with the situation. Then, upon checkout, we were delayed so they could inventory the minibar. Really? I travel a LOT and since they have our credit card, if the minibar is short any items, just bill the card. Like any other hotel - so all in all, it's an OK hotel, don't hesitate to use it, but don't expect first class service.

Room Tip: Nice oceanfront rooms would be the preference - higher up, the best for noise factor. We also had a...

I stayed at Orla Copa hotel for five days during Carnaval 2013 and was impressed with its unique location and contemporary atmosphere. The hotel customer service was excellent and the English-Portuguese bilingual staff was exceptional: friendly, courteous, efficient and always helpful, making my stay pleasant. They advised me on all my tour needs and tickets and transportation to the Sambódromo Samba School Parade. The accommodations had a modern decor with comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom. The restaurant served a buffet with typical delicious Brazilian food.

Orla Copa is in a strategic and privileged location on Avenida Atlântica and a walking distance to Arpoador and Ipanema beaches with easy access to many restaurants and stores in the area.

Another plus for this hotel is the breathtaking view of the Copacabana beach from the pool on top floor terrace!
