The Marina Palace is located several blocks into Leblon, a beautiful, upscale neighborhood with lots of great bars, restaurants and shopping. The beach is literally across the street. Ipanema is just a 10 minute walk away.

The room was fairly standard, beds comfortable.

We paid almost $300/night for Ocean View, which, looking back, was not worth it. Next time I'll pay $200 for a normal room.

Also, I couldn't believe the wireless wasn't free for a $300/night room!

The concierges were very friendly, though not always helpful (i.e. we were told that Parque Lage was a 15 minute walk from the hotel; it was more like 35 minutes).

Room Tip: Ocean view for an extra $100/night not worth it.

Location is great, but the hotel needs urgently a refurbishment. Room and bathroom are terrible, the stardard category. From the deluxe and up are much better, but too expensive.
Service is nice, breakfast nice. They charge 40 reais for the internet, very expensive.

Room Tip: Do not choose the standard rooms, smells bad and the bathroom is terrible.

The hotel is situated as mentioned on the beach. Great business location with great service and conference room facilities located on the 26th floor. Restaurant serves a buffet breakfast and lunch with a good assortment. They have a small work out room, sauna bar and pool on the 26th floor that has a fantastic view.

Within walking distance to very good restaurants and the Leblon shopping mall, and another larger three story mall within three blocks.

Need a chauffeur for a day.. They can set it up for only a little more than a taxi would charge. Benefit...you can charge it to your room tab.

You can walk the beach, exercise along the way on exercise stations, play a game of volleyball, or ask for yoga and physical training on the beach. Copacabana and Ipanema beach are within walking distance. For surfers...the waves are optimum.

Room Tip: Choose a room at 14th or higher for a fabulous view of the extended beach, Christ the Redeemer, and...

This hotel suited us just fine as we were only in Rio for a few days. The room was clean enough with somewhat dated furnishings which reminded me of a Spanish resort hotel circa 1970's. The location really was perfect as it was right on the beach and just a couple of streets to the back of the hotel you could get a bus direct to Christ the Redeemer. There were also lots of buses to take you into Copacabana if the walk was too long. There were several good priced eating places around the square as well and we actually found the area quite safe to walk around at night time. The pool was tiny but I didn't come to Rio to sit by the pool. Free wifi was available in the foyer so lots of people sat around there with laptops and mobile phones. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was good. All-in-all it was fine if you're looking for a two or three day stopover in Rio but not a patch on the upmarket HK or Middle-East hotels which you'd pay the same price for. I'd come back though.

Room Tip: As for a hotel room towards the top of the building and to the front to enjoy the views but with les...

The place looks like an old office block but the ocean view rooms were clean, well specified and worth the extra money (although the windows do not open). The location was good at the top of Leblon beach - quieter and less touristy than Copacabana. A roof terrace offers some great views by day and night.
Overall, a good place to stay.

I booked a Deluxe Room with Ocean View. The website stated that breakfast was included and also free internet. My girlfriend is allergic to rugs, so before checking in, I called Marina Palace and asked for a room without rug. I previously checked TripAdvisor reviews on the hotel and guests recommended that future guests ask for a remodeled room. When I called about the rug, I asked for a remodeled room. Was told, "no problem sir." When we arrived the person at the front desk was Manuel. No smile, no nice greeting. In fact there was no welcome at all. When I asked about the room without rug, he said, that room is available at a higher rate. I asked about free internet, he said only in the lobby. I asked about breakfast being included, he smurked and said no. Thank God my girlfriend is Brazilian and was able to speak with him in their native language. I'll I kept hearing was him saying no, but she would not stop. Finally, after 15-20 minutes of haggling, he agreed to a room without a rug, without charging more, but no breakfast. The hotel is old and run down. If you want to impress a girlfriend or any woman, this is not the place to stay. The room was nice, remodeled and clean, but look what we had to do to get it. Later that day my girlfriend spoke with the manager and she agreed to include breakfast. The first impression of a hotel is the person who greets you at the front desk. Manuel is not the right person for the job. I must say that everyone else was very nice, but we were unlucky enough to get him. If you can spend a little more, choose another hotel. If you're on a budget and have very few choices, then choose Marina Palace. At least you know what to prepare for now.

Room Tip: Ask for a remodeled room upfront and breakfast.

I booked one night for MARIANA ALL SUITES and when I got there they told me that my reservation was in the Mariana Palace Hotel. Beware of this issue. Hotels are next to each other, similar name, but one is good and the Mariana Palace is terrible. They oversold Mariana All Suites and sent me to this terrible place. The hotel is a terrible 3 stars in a nice location with a beautiful view to Leblon but a huge noise. You can’t sleep. They have made some changes in this stinky hotel but bathrooms are extremely old and dirty and carpets are worn. My window frame did not fit the window and all the noise from outside came through. I hear voices, cars and buses the all night. Corridors have the old and smelly carpet. Rio has to do something with their hotels. It is incredible that a hotel like that can last so long without any improvement. You can’t live with a beautiful view only. Guests deserve more and Rio is failing badly. As they say in Brazil. Imagine the world cup!!!! There is no other option than Fasano and Copacabana Palace. If they are sold out, don’t go
