Stayed overnight here while in Rio fro business. The room was small, but clean and like other reviews have said, a bit dated. I was so tired at the time, I could have slept on a concrete bed, but the mattress was comfortable enough. Big, clean bathroom and fairly quiet. The front desk weren't the friendliest, but weren't hostile either....somewhere in between.
The pool on the roof is pretty nice and gives a good view of downtown. There is a market across the street where you can buy all sorts of junk and a metro station not far too that can take you to the beaches.
Not romantic by any means, but clean and comfortable. A decent place to stay while in the city on business.

Thankfully I am only staying here one night but that is probably one night too long.

I have been on a tour of five other cities in Brazil with work and this is easily the worst hotel of the lot. I have no idea if this is standard for Rio but:

The room is VERY dated (think late 80s)
Bed is horrible
A/C is barely working
No WiFi! Cable internet yes but come on, this is 2012
Room service has three sandwich options; ham, cheese or ham and cheese! And as an added bonus, they serve it with cold French fries; yum yum!

Overall, very poor indeed and I couldn't recommend it to anyone (unless you need a gym/pool which are both on the top floor and seem to be excellent)

It was a decent stay. 2 nights. Clean enough with large rooms. Not the friendliest people at the front desk. They were obviously going out of their way to talk with me. Not sure if hospitality was really their thing. It's not really within walking distance by American standards. We had a 4K walk to Lapa. Interesting sights along the way, though. If you head to the roof top you can barely make out Corcovado on the horizon.

We spent 2 nights here, the room is spacious with opening windows and good airconditioning, albeit a little noisy at times. The bathroom is large with a huge combined bath/shower, it was lovely being able to soak in such a great sized bathtub that was also deep. The king bed was actually 2 singles together, a bit hard and the 2 pillows supplied and the extra found in the wardrobe were very flat, definately could do with improvement in the quality of manchester.

Check in was efficient and staff were able to assist with enquiries well, especially public transport. We had a 32"flatscreen but at most only had a choice of 2 English speaking stations, most of the time it was just CNN. We had to use wired internet in our room on the 17th floor, a biig problem if you only have a tablet but luckily we had both as we got wifi in the restaurant.

The pool and gym were great, the breakfast buffet was typically Brazilian with huge emphasis on sweet breads and cheeses, the variety of cold meets was good and there was also scrambed eggs and sausages available. There was a choice of about 4 different juices, all of them powdered and sickly sweet, the fresh fruit platters a better option.

The location is good for business, but we arrived on a Saturday night and the area was deserted, a lot of shops boarded up, only stay here if you have to do business in Centro or like us for a quick stay as the bus and train are very close and will take you just about anywhere.

Room Tip: the higher the better and the view of the church is good

A good sized room and a huge bed. The conditioned air is good and does not bloweth over you. It's very good located for business but not for fun. There are no good places to go around the hotel. The TV is from last century, could be better. I think they do it to do not keep you inside the room and motivate you to go visit the city. A high level of noise came from the streets around.

Spent two nights here on a business trip.
The hotel doesn’t look much from the outside, but the lobby is smart and furnished to a high standard.
All desk staff spoke good English and were very helpful.

My room was on the 11th floor, and really could only manage a 2 star rating in my opinion due to the basic and dated furniture. There was a fridge, room safe air conditioning and TV which all worked fine.
The room was very clean and bright and I’m sure better rooms were available for higher cost.

The shower room was clean and spacious with large mirrors, hair drier and illuminated magnifying mirror, however the toiletries were few and of a poor standard. Likewise the towels although freshly laundered had probably been laundered several hundred times and as such were quite harsh and faded.
Unfortunately there was no hot water for my shower on the first morning, several colleagues described the same and time did not permit us to enquire from the management why. No such problems in the evening.

There are several fast and efficient elevators available, some which go up to the roof floor where there is a gym, swimming pool and bar area. The pool is on the small side and only about 3’ deep but it was clean and chlorinated.
There are excellent views over Guanabara bay from there, even better with binoculars.

Breakfast and evening meal was a buffet served in the second floor restaurant, on both sittings there was a wide variety of choice between hot and cold dishes, all of a good quality. Fresh fruit and juices, cereal, meats, eggs, sweet pastries, cheeses etc for breakfast.
Dinner was a range of salads, meats, steak, chicken, rice, fries, pasta, breads, etc as well as countless desert options.

I would stay here again, as it was clean and safe with helpful and professional staff.
The location is in the Centro district which is a bit off the tourist track, but there are busses and taxies outside to take you where you want to go.

Room Tip: I guess the higher up you go the better the room.
