Although I was there only for one night, I could enjoy staff friendliness, good restaurant both buffet and à la carte as well, a clean room. Very close to Santos Dumont Airport, and to the Sugarloaf. For business and tourism as well.

Aside from the fact that the corresponding photo to this review is clearly not the Windsor Florida, this was a wonderful property to stay at for 6 nights. The staff was extraordinarily kind and helpful. The breakfast was delicious, and I highly recommend the self-same place for dinner. Although the food prices may appear to be a bit pricey, where are they not anywhere in Brazil!
Of special note are the very professional Kaeime Zahar and her colleague Felipe Silveira at reception. They were responsive and extremely accommodating to me on a number of occasions. As others have mentioned, the Metro is a 3 min. walk, and that form of transportation is convenient to everything on the north-south axis in Rio. The only thing that I would recommend is to be certain that if you use the hotel to book any kind of tour that they DO NOT USE a company called Netitur. They are not affiliated with the hotel and are easily the single worst tour company I have experienced in over 80 countries. Stay away from them at all costs!

The walls seem paper-thin and the location (except for metro proximity) is nothing to write home about...not a bad place, however - good breakfast and new facilities. They may want to think about activating that third elevator. We had ours konk out for a few nervous seconds twice.

To call it a four-star hotel is a bit of a stretch. Rooms are showing wear and vary wildly in size (another couple was travelling with us and got a much smaller room) and service is erratic. All in all, however, it is a good choice, considering Rio's unbelievable prices. At USD 150 a double room - during a local holiday - it is much more expensive than a similar accomodation in most big cities around the world but still one of the most affordable options in Rio. For the most part it is explained by its location: not in the popular Copacabana-Ipanema region but in the Flamengo-Catete neighbourhood. It is a pro though. From there you can easily get to either downtown or the touristic circuit (beaches, Sugar Loaf, Christ), by taxi, bus or subway+bus. Plus the Museum of the Republic, and its incredible gardens, is just nearby - actually you can take a nice peek at it from your room.

Nice location in Flamengo district, close to Metro station. Walkable to restaurants and shops (probably faster than driving in city traffic). Very friendly desk staff handling many guests' languages. Small lobby with a few chairs and a few local newspapers. No secondhand smoke evident. Three elevators for the 10 floors. 9th floor has been remodeled, others have old window that don't fully close and allow in street noise. Air conditioner is on or off, no temperature controls, is exterior wall-mounted and gets very noisy at times. . TV is old 21" CRT with a few dozen national channels. No pay movies. CNN international buried among the noisy/fuzzy channels. No WiFi, hardwired Internet OKAY after a few connection attempts. Rooms with two twin beds with a meter space around them. Stiff matresses and foam pillows. Imitation hardwood floor. White painted walls. Yellow print curtains with inside light shade. Dim room lighting with lamps at head of bed and alarmclock radio on small table in between beds. Telephone and weak TV remote. Minifridge with canned beers at $6.00Rs each. Very small writing/computer desk with electrical outlet for North American and South American style plugs. Enclosed wooden closet with dozen hangers and small lock-box. No iron. Pressing service at $17.50 RS per shirt.
Small bath with shower only. Sliding door with high lip to enter shower. Good hot water. 220/110v outlet on hairdryer.
Ground floor restaurant with buffet for breakfast and dinner. Dinner menu also available. Lots of seafood dishes, fresh veggies and fruits. 10th floor exercise room with great view. Also, roof-top pool with lounge chairs and great afternoon sun. Small inside roof-top bar with four barstools an small table, but never any customers.
Overall, very friendly and helpful staff but not very high-tech for business travelers.

Room Tip: Choose inside (non-street view) room to avoid excessive traffic noise.
