We wanted a hotel on the beach, but did not want to pay the high prices of the big hotels. We really loved staying at the Leme Othon. It is located on the beach just as most of the main hotels are, but costs much less. We arrived early and it was obvious this is a popular hotel for people leaving for or coming back from a cruise. There were 6 of us, but rather than make all of us wait for our rooms, they upgraded one of us to a suite so we could all cool off while we waited for the rooms to be ready. What a treat. The rooms are beautiful with a lovely view of the beach. We got a great price via the AAA travel website. The free breakfast was wonderful, high quality, and wifi is free. They have a nice outside restaurant/bar on the beach and the food was good.

The title says it all. Bedroom and bathroom a bit tired, though spacious. Staff happy to help me when in business dress but not when dressed for the beach on days off. Very good buffet breakfast. A bit far off the beaten track, but fine if you're happy to walk to public transport or take a taxi.

We stayed here for a night before boarding a cruise. The hotel is right across from Copacabana Beach. A ten minute stroll on the beach finds you right in the heart of things across from the Copacabana Beach Palace Hotel. The rooms are a good size, the beds are comfortable and the shower is good and strong. The room was very clean. Ask for a room on a high floor and you get a view of the beach and the mountains. The breakfast buffet was plentiful. Not all the front desk clerks speak flawless English, but they are polite and friendly. One downside is there is no pool. But with the beach so close, there really is no need for one. If you are in Rio for a day or two and want to be close to the beach action, then this hotel is a reasonably priced option.

We had a great stay at the Leme Othon Palace for two nights just before Christmas. It is located right across from the beach, on a short, quiet street in the Leme neighbourhood of Rio, which I found to be a nice change from the intensity of Ipanema and the heavy touristic feel of Copacabana. We are a family of four with two kids (aged 11 and 13). We had two spacious, clean, comfortable adjoining rooms with a wonderful sea view. There were many good restaurants within walking distance and it wasn't too loud at night. The breakfast (included in the price) was substantial and good quality, and the service in the hotel was excellent. To note that the room that our kids were in had two double (not queen) beds. Our room had a king size. We probably could have fit all four of us in the one room with the two smaller beds, although it would have been a bit snug with kids our size. But it you are travelling with smaller children you could probably make do with one room instead of getting two. As it was, we were very pleased with our accommodation, and having the rooms connected internally was very reassuring in terms of security. The only comment I would make is that the hotel doesn't have a swimming pool. As the ocean is quite rough and not particularly clean for swimming in Rio, this might be important for you. As we were heading down the coast of Brazil to nicer beaches after our stay Rio, we weren't troubled by this.

Room Tip: We had connecting rooms on the 16th floor with a sea view. Highly recommended.

Stayed there for one night....the room was quite smelly due to humidity. The bathrooms were renovated so that was a plus. The breakfast buffet was OK but I asked for an omlette but they said it was not possible. Generally, the hotel staff has a take it or leave it attitude. Somewhat expected considering the location.
