Stayed at the Atlantis Copacabana Hotel for 5 nights. It is at a really good location at a relatively decent price.

Rooms are old and dated. Wifi is really sketchy especially since we had the deluxe room. Can't imagine how a normal room's wifi would be like. Breakfast was boring and limited.

Also, watch what you get charged in comparison to the price list. We got charged more than what was agreed upon booking and when we sent an email, it generated more confusion as the quality of customer service was so poor. Alas, we managed to figure the right prices out when we checked in.

Overall it was an alright experience. Only plus point is that it is in a great location. In the middle of Copacabana beach and Ipanema beach.

After looking at some of these reviews im shocked at what people are accepting as value for money..Just arrived back from south america and this hotel room was by far the worst and the most expensive, i booked 4 nights through booking.com because of its location which is good and the pictures and the reviews seemed ok..!! We arrived at the hotel at 9pm saturday night and got showed to the room, as soon as we entered i was shocked by the basic standard of the room wich was costing £180uk - $270us p night . I went straight down to the reception and told them that i wasnt happy with the room and was told that that is the standard if i wanted better i would have to upgrade but nothing wasnt available till monday so i said il think about it. we went straight out for dinner and left the ancient looking air con on.. which pieces had fallen off when the guy who showed us the room had shown us how to work it..we returned 3 hrs later and the room was still warm i called the reception and they sent one of the maitenance guys up who looked at it and said to wait he will be back.. he returned 15 minutes later which was now 1am with a replacement unit which he changed and did make the room cold but was so noisy we both didnt hardly sleep..
Sunday morning we had breakfast which was good and then spoke with the guy who had checked us in as he seemed to be in charge, he was aware of what had happened but wasnt apologetic as he said the hotel is allways full so the rooms cant be that bad... and said did i want him to find me another room or check out which he would be happy to just charge me for the 1 night..!! I checked out..!!
This was the worst experience for the price i have ever had and was quite shocked at what seems to be the general low standard for high price for rooms around copacoobana/ ipanema area..After checking out we found a lovely fully furnished fully equipped 1 bedroom apartment 1 block 80 mtres from the beach for £100uk- $150 on a fantastic site airbnb.com..
Stay away from this overpriced low standard hotel...!!

Room Tip: Dont book this hotel if you want a good room...!!

We were really happy with this hotel. As part of a tour it's the first of many we will be staying at.
The rooms are simple but accommodate up to four people. They also have free wifi, which is a bonus too.
The a/c is a window one (well in our room) but worked ok for us. I can't comment on its capability during summer though.
The barhroom is simple but does what a bathroom needs to do. I don't spend hours in a bathroom so marble vanities, etc, don't wow me.
The best was the breakfast.
A vast array of cereals, fruits, juices, bread, hot food and sweets.
I was impressed with their selection, given that I have stayed at quite a few hotels that have less than half the selection.
The location was set back just 2 blocks from Copacabana beach, but the walk suited us fine.
Overall, I'd stay here again for sure.
Thanks for your hospitality Atlantis.

Me, my wife, her sister and her niece stayed four nights at the Atlantis Copacabana in April, 2013. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy. Each double room was spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was tasty and very satisfying. There was an array of cold meats, cheeses, breads, milk, juice, fruits and warm sausages and eggs. The front desk staff was friendly and there was always someone available that spoke English well enough to be helpful. I give a special "Thank You" to Mr. Andre Carlos. He speaks English well and was very helpful with giving advice, directions, and recommendations to area restaurants. At night, don't miss the view from the roof top of the hotel. The roof top bar was closed but the small pool was open during our visit.

Fifty meters to the right of the hotel is a petrol station/convenience store where we bought snacks and drinks. One hundred fifty meters to the left of the hotel is the supermarket, Zona Sul. There are several fast food and several more upscale restaurants all within a five to ten minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is on a quiet residential street and is @ a ten minute walk to Copacabana and Ipanema Beaches. There is a small shopping center between the hotel and Copacabana Beach where I was able to find some nice souvenir polo shirts. We usually returned to the hotel @ 8 PM and the area appeared to be safe at that time of the night.

Overall, we had a fantastic stay/trip. Our only annoyance was with housekeeping. The housekeeper for #406(no tissue paper) and #506(no clean drinking glasses) could use some re-training. However, based on the location, the price we paid for the rooms and the hotel amenities, I strongly recommend the Atlantis Copacabana Hotel for your visit to Rio.

Back from a fantastic South America trip with an international tour operator: My first night in Rio I stayed in another hotel then arranged with the tour, so my choice was the Atlantis Copacabana .... Hotels in Rio are expensive but I had not expected such a bad room quality for the price I payed finally ... the room and the bathroom were clean, but without charm; no view but the noise of air conditioners in the small court in front of my window. Very nice service, and good breakfast - but my experience with breakfast in hotels in Brazil was in general overwhelming! The pool was nice, but nothing special because each hotel in Rio has a roof area with a pool, and the view on that amazing city was not the best one. Very good location, very close to Ipanema, close to Copacabana ....

This hotel has the best location, right between Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, 3 blocks from a bus station and local supermarket.
I was pleasantly surprised by the overall decor, although our room was a bit small and had a view of another room (although to be fair we did book an economy room). Nice big comfy bed, and clean bathroom. The pool area is small, but there is a good view from up there.
Breakfast was really good, with the sweetest fruit in Rio. Wish they kept eggs away from meat products though, as it leaves little options for vegetarians.
As far as cost goes, its pretty decent considering how expensive Rio is.
Staff were helpful, and overall service was good.
A definite return if I am lucky enough to be in Rio again!

Room Tip: Want a view? Economy room is not the one to choose then :)

We stayed one week with Wolf and Inia and it was simlpy amazing. Just brilliant. It was like going back home to our parents. Lovely hosts, perfect breakfast with fresh fruits, freshly squeezed juice, tea& coffee, eggs cooked your way, deli meats, cheeses, yogurt, bread baskets, jams- the list is endless and comfortable room and bed. The location is ideal, a 5 mins walk to Copacabana Beach and Ipanema Beach and 3 mins walk to Arpoador Beach. We couldn't have been happier staying here.

If we ever go back to rio we will definitely stay here again. Would recommend it to anyone. A 5 star guesthouse :) thank you very much.
