I had a 3 bed room on the 5th Floor,The staff in this hotel are very friendly and helpful, the guys at the door always welcomed us when we came back from the beach/clubs/pubs Ola Ola all the time with big smiles on their faces :-) The breakfast was standard as you get in hotels but had something for everyone. The views at the top of the hotel were amazing and a quite area if you want to chill and relax (not that you would, its Rio) Area is very safe and we often walked home from the clubs at 4/5 in the morning. The price is a bargain compared to the other costly hotels in Rio. the hotel is 5 mins walk to ipanema beach which we spent most of our time at but its also close to Copacabana is you like that beach? The staff were great and I would come back just to so their friendly faces OLA from room 501

Room Tip: The high up the better

Good points: Good location near Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Safe area. Helpful desk staff. Good breakfast. Modestly priced (for Rio!), two/three star, price would buy you a three/four star in most other places. Reception helpful.
Bad points: Even on the 10th floor we could hear a lot of traffic noise (single glazed windows only). The air con is very small and noisy and fairly ineffective and placed at shin level, it was difficult to sleep through the racket. We turned the air con on for 2 hours when we went to bed, then got up in the night to turn it off. The bed was a bit small. No English speaking tv news channels. Hotel could do with modernisation, but then I suppose the price would increase further.

Living in Brasil we're used to getting an average hotel for price paid whereas in Asia one would get 5 star. It's good location, walking distance to Copacabana and Ipanema. DOES NOT have car parking available. Staff were helpful. Room was large, bathroom needed an upgrade but has hot water, pressure and flushing toilet. Safe available. AC available. Nothing fancy but for people on a budget will do. Breakfast basic and average.

i was to Atlantis copacabana at december 2011.
My stay began suffered badly, the staff has tried to charge the cost of the room on my credit card a few hours before coming to hotel.Bad way to do it.
The room is good, little entrance, bathroom, quiet, the pool on top floor is basic but the view on the night is beautiful. Breakfast essential.
In RIO can find better accommodation than the Arpoador at prices far more low.
The next time I'm not going 'over here and I'll come' to others hotel,in copacabana but very close to Ipanema and Arpoador, similar style hotel but more cheap than here.

Room was dirty , sheets were dirty , hundreds of ants in the shower (when complained that there were hundreds of insects in the shower - was told they are only ants ) took 50 minutes to use the lift in the morning - would not stay again !

Room Tip: different hotel !

We stayed here for two nights, it was better than I expected. We had a double room with a great view. The furniture in the room is quite basic and cheap but functional. Decent bathroom, breakfast was very good. Great location for Copacabana and ipanema near to metro and quick walk to beach. This hotel is good value but bear in mind accommodation in Rio is pricey. I would stay here again.

The hotel is located perfectly for a vacation in Rio de Janeiro, close to both Copabana Beach, Ipanema Beach and the subway station Ipanema as well. The hotel has a rooftop terrace with great views and a small pool. Our room on the first floor was basic, but clean and spacious with a good, free wi fi connection. There was some noise from the street, but it was not too much. The bathroom had seen better days, but it was clean and there was hot water every day. There are lots of shops, restaurants and banks nearby and the supermarket chain Zona Sul is well represented in the neighbourhood. The breakfast was standard at best, but there was a good selection of fresh fruit. The biggest issue with the breakfast was the lack of space for the hotel guests in the restaurant, it was difficult to get a table (not to say a clean table...).

Would I stay here again? Yes, the price was good (by Rio standard(!)) and the location great.
