The Arpoador Inn stands on a beautiful location, on Ipanema beach. It has a wonderful fish restaurant on the sea side with traditional Brazilian dishes. The only down side is the very small standard rooms.

It was a relly nice place to stay... the restaurant it's just on the beach... the view is beautiful... the restaurant it's only sea food, so if you want to try something else you have to go to another restaurant. The internet is good.. The staff are really nice. It's a nice place to stay, next to the sea but expensive.

The perfect location on Ipanema beach close to Copacabana. Worth spending extra for an ocean view room. Good extensive breakfast buffet that you can enjoy on the Ipanema boardwalk while admiring the views. Restaurant is excellent for dinner too. Very, very helpful staff!

We stayed here for 7 nights at the end of a 3 week trip to Brazil.
We recommend booking a deluxe room which gives you an ocean view. From the minute we entered our room until the moment we were leaving, we never tired of the view. Even during a brief thunder storm, we enjoyed having a drink watching the lightning over the ocean. We fell asleep each night with the windows open listening to the ocean.
Hotel is directly on the beach, rooms were large and very clean, bathroom was big, soaps and shampoos included.
Buffet breakfast was very good, lots of variety and you get to eat outside with the ocean view.
Extremely friendly staff, a lot of whom speak English.
Two computers where you can print boarding passes.
Free Wifi in your room
Minutes away from shopping, restaurants, and a local market.
Great location for visiting tourist spots such as Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf- just a short local bus ride away. Note: we only took local buses during the day as it is not recommended during the night. However, felt very safe walking around this area at night.
Couldn't have ended our trip on a better note and would DEFINITELY stay here again!!!

We stayed here for one night at the end of a 3-week vacation in Brazil. It was one of 5 hotels that we stayed in so we were pretty familiar with Brazilian hotel standards at that point. In general, with the exception of a 2-night stay in a 5-star hotel, we found the hotels in Brazil to be much more sparse than a standard U.S. or European hotel. This hotel is clean, the beds were comfortable, there was a very helpful English-speaking receptionist available, the breakfast in the beach-front restaurant was excellent, and the location can't be beat. That same restaurant was open for lunch and dinner and the dinner we had was very good. It also has outdoor tables right on the beach, which is an excellent place to sit and have a drink and watch the sunset. The wifi worked great and there were two desk-top computers in the lobby so you could print out your boarding passes. In my opinion, the reason for staying at this hotel is to take advantage of its beach-front views. We were in room 401 and we felt like we were on a cruise ship, we were so close to the water. Yes, the rooms were somewhat plain, there wasn't a hair dryer in the room, no exercise equipment or a pool, no place to do laundry, no parking, the TV only got 2 English channels and one of them, CNN, wasn't working when we were there, none of the extras you'd expect in a hotel in the States. What it did have was an amazing location directly on the beach. Unlike almost every other "beach-front" hotel in Rio (including the much-lauded Copacabana Palace) there is no huge, noisy boulevard running between the hotel and the beach. When you lie in bed at the Arpoador Inn its just you and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore.

Room Tip: Absolutely opt for the sea-view rooms on the upper floors. You'll be happy you did every time y...

Arpoador Inn is a SUPERB value. There are not many frills, but the staff is EXCELLENT, the location difficult to beat, and the price much more affordable than anything else on Ipanema, Leblon or Copacabana. An excellent home base to explore Rio.

Room Tip: Oceanfront rooms are worth the view. Interior rooms are much smaller, have a view of the service cou...

Stayed 2 nights while in Brazil for a wedding. Great proximity to both Ipanema & Copacabana if you want to check out both. Good breakfast with lots of cakes & desserts for those with a sweet tooth. English speaking receptionists, v friendly and forthcoming with excursion advice, beach towels etc.

Room Tip: We didn't choose a sea-facing room, however it's so close to the beach you can see it if you...
