This is a tough one, because The Sheraton Rio is right on its own beach, has beautiful rooms (for the floors that have been renovated) and plenty of pools, beds, and restaurants. The service is very good. Unfortunately, the two downsides for us (couples, no kids) are a lot of noisy kids by the pool and beach and a pervasive sewage smell likely due to the hillside favelas above.
It's a shame because the views from the upper floors are beautiful. But I'm glad we were here just one day. The smell just made enjoying the outdoor areas difficult. More
