Having qualified for an incentive trip with my employer, my partner and i were fortunate enough to stay here. The rooms were big and plush, the bathroom was spacious and the service was excellent.

However there are a few things that they do need to address. At breakfast time at times they couldn't cope with the number of people coming down all at once. They cant control the size of the restaurant, but they could have had more places available. This did lead to a number of small waits for seats.

Other people I was travelling with also had some issues with leaking rooms - due to the tropical rain, and some toilet flooding as well. In my view this can be forgiven as it is a fairly old building and things like this are bound to happen. By all accounts the issues were sorted quickly.

The hotel was overall a nice place to stay, but without knowing what the others are like in this area is is hard for me to make a judgement about if this was the best, but from staying at places in the UK I would say it is worth the money.

I was really disappointed by the Copa on every level - apart from the staff and concierge who were truly excellent.
OK the outside is stunning and impressive as is the reception and other communal areas but the "cheap" rooms at around £350 per night are small, dated, shabby and reminiscent of my Nan’s bedroom. I understand that only the rooms in the main building have refurbished recently. We also had a late flight that evening and a late check-out was dismissed immediately – I wonder if that would have been the same for the higher rate paying guest. We were however allowed to use the spa to shower where the facilities were very nice.
The pool area is nice - but the loungers aren't really that great and certainly not like the decent cushioned ones you get in a really good hotel.
The breakfast was a total let down to be honest, we stayed at a 3 star hotel in Ipanema earlier in our trip that was better, and this hurt as breakfast is £25 per person! Often you had to wait for eggs or other items, jugs of water and juice remained unfilled and you have to beg to get a coffee re-fill.
We only at lunch by the pool once, again this was average at best and very overpriced. Similarly the cocktails in the evening at the pool bar were not to a good standard and very expensive, they didn’t even have the items to make some of the cocktails they had on the menu. Another thing not particularly pleasant about the pool bar in the evenings are the pairs of young girls who arrive and sit by the pool bar without purchasing any drinks and sit eyeing up the single men! Read whatever you want into this but I am surprised the management let it go on so blatantly! One thing to mention also is the area the hotel is in – it’s not great; full of homeless people sleeping on the beach and other people looking wasted, there are pigeons and rubbish in the street. We didn’t really find any nice places to eat or drink close by – even the concierge recommended places far away from the hotel and the other times we headed back to Ipanema area which in our opinion was a nicer place to be all round.

Room Tip: If you can't afford the good suites stay somewhere else or be dissapointed

The best hotel in town.
I would say one of the best services in the world.
I have been in Copacabana Palace 3 or 4 times but I have to say in my last stay the experience was even better than before.
The hotel was totally renovated looks magnificent, they changed the key system what it makes everything more practical & easy.
Common areas & facade were remodeled too as well as rooms painting & furniture.
The beach service is exceptional they provide you chair / water & sun cream too.
The Bar has the best view or Rio.. facing the large swimming pool & building side facade.
Don´t miss the Copacabana Palace is a ticket back to the 50 Glorious years !!!

Room Tip: Ask for the mail rooms building.

Here's another "Hotel Luxe" I can cross off my bucket list!
The Copacabana Palace is truly a well furnished and maintained Grand Hotel in the old style that still appeals to today's modern market.
purely a holiday indulgence, its on the beachfront and away from the city centre so not so much of a business property.
We shared a two room "junior suite" on the 5th floor with views to Africa (!). It had a small sitting room, larger generous bedroom and bathroom. Twin closets and a separate powder room ensured plenty of storage space. Rooms were completely re-furbished when Orient Express took over so not mis-matched furniture and smelly, sagging furnishings left over from gone by eras.
Pool area is comfortable with good service and people watching to die for!
It was very hot during our stay in February and as the beach was too hot to stay for long, the pool is the best option. If you want to swim in the surf, early morning before 9.00 was a good time to be there. The Hotel maintains beach side pavilions and service but by 10.00 the heat really is hard to bear.

My only gripe was the breakfast waiters who were slow to take an order or deliver coffee/tea without prompting, every morning. Breakfast fruits were delicious.
We dined once at Cipriani's, the signature restaurant and found it excellent. Service, decor, menu and wines all as one would expect. Venitian, Murano chandeliers, dark timber panelling, rich carpeting all combine to make it a stunning atmosphere.
The crowd is young and it's an obvious favorite for the late night (10.30 onwards) locals.
We were there during the lead up to Carnivale and this is the test of any Rio establishment.
We contacted a local guide who lead us around to the local sights easily. Taxis are cheap and plentiful in Rio.
However despite having the 2nd most beautiful harbour in the World - I'm from Sydney - there seems to be no harbour cruises from which to enjoy this fabulous waterway!
There's an opportunity for someone.
No fault of the Hotel. The "Copa" is certainly worth saving up for.
Be prepared to pay for what you get.

Room Tip: On Copa Beach - you have to ask!? Ensure it's a beach from room! Double windows ensure quiet and a sound night sleep.

Dear Guest,
We would like to thank you for posting your message. It is amazing to read you detailed description regarding the room, the view, the pool, the decor and service of the hotel as well as the sights of Rio that you've got the oportunity to visit. Sydney and Rio have several points in common due to be seaside cities.
Best Regards,

This is an excellent hotel. The location is great (middle of Copacabana Beach) and the setting is quite charming. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our standard room was quite large and nicely furnished. The property was immaculately clean except for some rather bad stains on the carpet in our room. The outdoor restaurant and bar was very good, indeed, and the breakfast buffet among the best we have experienced for variety and quality. Our only criticism about service might be that there were almost too many staff and it was difficult to figure out whom to ask for the check!
