“As good as you'll find in Rio”

The Palace is very elegant and well located in Copa. It reminds me of a Fairmont. It's not as nice as most 5 star boutique hotels but very classic and comfortable. Nothing will blow your mind but nothing will disappoint. The rooms are very big and nice.

Room Tip: Suites are huge. Courtyard view is nice.

Classical charm, interior design in rooms is exquisit, takes you to another era. Service is great, concierge support fantastic. No other hotel in Rio offers what the Copa does. The Pergola restaurant is a gat place for breakfast or lunch meetings. Absolute favorite.

Everything was great at the hotel. Our room overlooked the beach. Some rooms have a small balcony but others do not. The TV pops up from a center console in the middle of the room. We ate at the Cipriani restaurant and had excellent food and service. Also ate at the pool side Pergula restaurant which was very good. Easy to walk to other restaurants that are located on the road in front of the hotel. Beach can be easily accessed across the four lane street by way of a stop light in front of the hotel. Decent fitness center. Did not go to the spa. Pool was great. Good wifi connection in the room.

There is a boardwalk on the beach next to the road that is great for walking.

Check-in at the hotel outstanding and our room on the forth floor overlooking the Copacabana Beach superb. A very spacious suite with all the services anyone would require.
The pool is beautiful and the pool-side restaurant excellent. For more formal dining choose the Cipriani Restuarant where the Menu and Wines are superb
The staff here are fantastic, so polite and helpful and the location could not be better

Room Tip: A room facing Copacabana Beach a must!

The location is perfect and the hotel has been updated in the new wing. This property is located near Copacabana peach, but near to other locations. You can walk on the boardwalk, but taxi are reasonable. The best rooms are the suite that face the ocean. IF your going to stay here, don't bother booking any other rooms, because they are small and face a noisy street. Yes, they are expensive, but Rio is expensive, and the rooms are worth the cost. Book high level to avoid noise facing the pool and beach. Each suite is large, 2 balcony, and make sure breakfast is free. You can also request breakfast to your room, which we did not realize until the last night. Free Wifi, which is fine. The rooms have a expresso machine (Nestle brand), and reg but they nickle and dime you here, and therefore, go around the corner to grocery store & wine store.

The good is average, and expensive. Better to taxi local places where the food is much better.

Also, recommend to book a private tour of Rio. Otherwise, you will wait an long lines and not see much. We saw a lot more, but private tours are expensive (400-600 reals/day) with driver & private tour guide. Well worth the cost.

Two restaurants in the hotel which are okay, but better to eat out. We spent $600 reals for two, and I was still hungry but the food was fair.

The breakfast (included) is excellent with great coffee!

The gym and spa are better than expected and provide the basics.

The international airport is located about 45 minutes to the hotel, and recommend a private driver. You can take a taxi, but they are small.

The pool is heated and nice during the day, with adequate chair, but no umbrellas. There is adjacent seating to hang out at bar or covered areas.

Private safe in each suite. Free sandals provided. Beds are very comfortable and each suite has air conditioning that works well.

Very large and nice bathrooms (2) per suite.

Children were present and welcomed.

Beach is across the street.

Overall, good hotel, but if you stay in the place make sure you book a luxury suite. You can check for specials, which we were able to get a better rate. Would stay here again. Enjoy and safe travels.

Room Tip: high floor luxury suite facing the ocean. Avoid city view (even luxury rooms)

We opted out of the cruise's hotel land programs that put you in a choice of American chain hotels, and booked directly with the Copacabana Palace Hotel for 3 nights. It was our first visit to South America & Rio De Janeiro, in particular, & perhaps our only chance to stay at this iconic hotel. From the moment the courteous airport cab driver (who spoke no English but I had the name & address of the hotel printed on an index card per Trip Advisor recommendation - which was fortunate as lots of hotels have the word "Copacabana" in their name ) dropped us off @ 11:30am local time (after a 8-1/2 overnight flight), we were greeted warmly and personally escorted to the front desk, and later to the pool/bar area to wait for our room, vacant but not readied. Just waited about 30 minutes, when the same front desk woman came looking for us to give us our room keys. We just had a standard, King city view room but were treated like royalty.

Throughout our stay, we felt safe as there was a high level of security presence throughout the common areas.

Definitely make reservations before you leave the USA for the Cipriano restaurant (which I will review separately) as they were booked each night of our stay. There was no problem with communication throughout the hotel. On the hotel phone, even with housekeeping, they switch to English readily when you start talking.

One minor thing lacking in the hotel was a gift shop to buy water, drugstore items, etc...just a woman's boutique store & jewelry store. When we called, first the "concierge" desk, then the front desk, to ask for directions to an area with stores for water, souvenirs, etc..the answer was "order from room service." Certainly there was a mini fridge with water, snacks, etc.. which we used the first day & night but was obviously very expensive. Even a friendly bellhop we came across was reluctant to give us directions fearing he would steer us wrong(maybe this is a cultural difference). Didn't realize turndown service provided us two bottles of water. It was our bad luck we didn't run into stores during our first couple of walks. So, when leaving the hotel, resist the urge to cross the street to get to the beach. Instead when facing the beach as you leave the hotel, turn right, and at the first intersection, turn right again, and you will very soon come across many convenience stores & restaurants.

This hotel puts a high premium on feedback as when I completed the hotel survey upon return from SA, I provided the same "comment issue" and received a personal phone message from the hotel mgr thanking me for my comments & that they had provided their staff with updated guidelines.

Although we saw all of the top "tourist stops" we definitely plan to return to Rio before our 5-year VISA runs out. And though pricey, it will be difficult NOT to return to this lovely Hotel.
