It was a true hideaway sanctuary amidst the tropical rainforest. Quiet, peaceful, and relaxing place to stay away from the hustle bustle city life. I stayed 3 nights in a petit single bedded bedroom with an extraordinary view of the Pedra da Gavea. It was amazing. Highly recommended. The owner is kind too.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was such a neat surprise when we walked through the door. The views are spectacular as was the service. Daniella took great care of us from arranging beautiful breakfasts on the deck overlooking the rain forest and ocean, making caipirinhas in the evenings, and providing all of the local insights that we needed to enjoy the local beaches and get around town. You can hear the birds tweeting and see the sun shining over the mountains each morning. The house itself is decorated beautifully and our stay was a treat!

I had found Tuakaza by searching for luxury boutique hotels in Rio. Oh my word, it was incredible. The attention to detail is incredible and I wish we had had longer to just stay and relax, chill listening to the music that was always playing, flicking through the 100s of beautiful books laying around or just sunbathing watching the incredible birds and listening to the sounds of the forest. You are totally submerged in it. Sandra and Maria who were working there, were wonderful. We met Matteo and Claudio who couldn't have been more welcoming. We stayed in Papaya which was stunning. Gorgeous toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was sumptuous. Fresh smoothies devine! On the map, you think Tuakaza is isolated - it is and it isn't. You feel you are miles from the crazy wonderful world of Rio because you are surrounded by vegetation (the world's largest urban rainforest) and wildlife but in fact you are only 15 mins in a taxi from Leblon, Ipanema and the staff easily arrange taxis for you. Will definitely be returning next May. If you desire is a beautiful, individual, small lodging for your time in Rio, then look at Tuakaza. you won't be disappointed. It is STUNNING!

Hosted by Sandra and Maria we walked into our 2nd home. The décor of the guesthouse/hotel is comforting, funky, interesting, colourful and fascinates at the same time. We arrived in wet and windy weather and this weather remained with us for our 4 days, but we will be returning in May to experience it in better weather - we were disappointed it was too cold to use the waterfall pool. The hotel is an open area, friendly, welcoming and truly your home from home. There is food, drinks, snacks, fruits, and all sorts of goodies available 24hrs a day. There is a coffee machine in the lounge/dining area and a fridge stocking beers, soft drinks, water and a few other treats. This is all inclusive while you are there and don't forget to ask for the caipirinhas as they are also included - they were a great warmer when we couldn't get out for the night due to the weather. The location, views and being surrounded by nature make this a very unique and special place to stay. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Rio that is not in the city or beaches, Tuakaza is within EASY reach of everywhere you need to be. Its so close to Sao Conrado beach and we were picked up every day by our tour guide friend and went out in the evenings using local taxis, so easy and not far from Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana for a night out. At least when you get home you are surrounded by the peace and quiet and will have a great nights sleep and wake up the most amazingly beautiful views - if youre lucky you will be visited by the colourful birds from the Tijuca National Park too - you will be staying in the middle of it. The hotel team and owners looked after us like VIPs, calling taxis, making restaurant reservations, making breakfast with whatever we wanted, making sure we had caipirinhas, and just talking with us like we were family. If youre REALLY lucky you will get to meet Donna, she is just gorgeous and I wanted to bring her with me in my suitcase. It was sad to leave Tuakaza, however I will be returning time and time again, next May for starters. Don't stay where everyone else does, be different and unique, treat yourself and stay here, you know you deserve it - I did. Thanks Tuakaza, see you soon :)

We decided to stay here after spending 2 days in the more convenient location in Leblon where we easily did our touristy things. We stayed in the Lima suite that has the most breathtaking views from the balcony, especially when laying down in the oversized hammock. The solitude and tranquility of the place was exactly what we needed to end our trip in Brazil and the chaos from the city. The service was very attentative yet relaxed. They really do a good job to make you feel like their home is your home. They provided unlimited drinks and snacks that were much needed after coming home from a long day out. But because this place is in the forest, public transportation is difficult so be prepared to take taxis everywhere. The other option is the bus that passes in front of the house every hour to take you down to the main bus stop but you never know what time it comes. At times, they will also take you down to the bus station which was extremely helpful.

It's one of the most spectacular view I've seen in Rio de Janeiro. The host and service are great! It's really a place you can go to get your mind off things and and just enjoy the view and nature all around you. The place and rooms are all so nice and cozy that you don't want to leave.
