“Excellent cuisinte at reasonable cost”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

The Garden is a decade-long traditional restaurant in Rio de Janeiro. Located in world famous Ipanema, is known for hosting 'food festivals' in which they explore some peculiar delicatessen. Last week, as me and my wife headed for a neighboring restaurant, we were attracted by the Garden's current 'festival' - DUCK!
We changed our minds upond seeing their menu, displayed on their front door.
It was a very pleasant surprise. Their duck dishes were just fantastic.
The duck confit was nothing short of a sheer delicatesse, perfect in every aspect.
Prices were very low, considering the high level of their cuisint - R$39,50 any duck dish.
Service was also perfect, as well as the 'couvert', which included soup.

“watch out for the expensive bread and veggies.”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

Five of us met to eat there, two others were going to be late. When bread, dips(not a lot) and veggies were put on the table we all just dug in.We ordered our meals, mine was a "Mediterranean spaghetti" It was very salty with the olives which I thought would be black, but we're red.I have traveled a lot to the Med. and that dish was so wrong. To cut a long story short, the bill came at the end of the meal and we were charged 18 reals EACH for the bread.I could have done a week's shopping for the price of that. EXTORTIONATE..to say the least. I did like the mouthwash in the toilets though, got rid of the taste of the meal.

“A traditional, good restaurant”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

I went here for an evening meal. It's a very nice setting with good service and good food. A very solid experience in a restaurant that has been in Ipanema for years. I will go back.

“Leisurely Lunch on a Weekend”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

We recently had lunch at Garden, which was excellent. We opted for the feijoada buffet, which offers variations, depending on how adventurous you are. You can combine the feijao (black beans) with your choice of pork tongue, loin, ears, tail, or barbecued ribs, or sausage, or beef brisket. Orange slices, kale, and farofa complete the meal.

The dining area is a little crowded, but light and comfortable. Service is good, and the caipirinhas are very strong. It was a little expensive - R$100 or so for feijoada, a caipirinha, and some sparkling mineral water - but worth it.

“Lovely, relaxing lunch amid the hub bub of Ipanema shopping.”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

When you find yourself hungry after shopping along Ipanema's fashionable Rua Visconde de Piraja, look for Garden Restaurant on the beach side of the street at the Leblon end of things. Well worth the extra steps to get here. Quiet. Superb service. Relaxed. See photo. Some wonderful food and great small plates accompany your meal. See photo. I especially enjoyed the grilled artichoke hearts. It is an excellent spot to refresh and rejuvenate before again tackling those shops.
