“Free Caipirinha!!!”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

Good location for a party!! Jus a street away from the arches and further on to the Lapa steps. Stayed in the 20 bed dorm, so didn't feel like you were sharing with a lot of people, also had lockers. Shower, toilet facility's were great, looked new!! Really good breakfast. Cute cat there to :)
Free Caipirinha every weekend!!

Never such a good time at a hostel. The free caipirinha is nice moment to know people and they offer some live music inside. There you are very close to the fiesta of arcos da lapa. Many bars and restaurants in this neighbourhood.

Guys there helped with many hints about the city. Sleep quality is ok, beds were confortable and the room had enough space for everybody, it never feel cramped.

this area was safe and quiet during weekdays. Not far from the beaches of Rio. People there always had fun and their price is very fair.

I stayed there for a few days and couldn't believe how helpful the staff was. You can fell like in a family. I had hours of fun there, as we spent some time enjoying The free caipirinha and then went away to the party in Lapa.

The location is superb, very close to many bus stops, táxis and metro. You can prepare your own food, but there are many budget restaurants. If you like The night this area is packed with bars and restaurante and you can listen to any kind of music.

I had good sleep there, facilities were nice, there were more 10 people in The room but you can never say that because the dorm was very big, and all seems pretty safe also.

If you are looking for price and quality i really recommend this place. Its not expensive and very funny. Once in Rio i will be there again.

We spent 7 nights at this hostel and loved it! The staff is very helpful & friendly, all of them even the cleaning ladies =) It's clean and the showers are amazing, hot and good water pressure! The location is great, the street party in Lapa on the weekends is something you just shouldn't miss and Lapa hostel is only a few blocks away. We played drinking games in the kitchen during free caipirnha time and had so much fun! The bus system is very easy to use in Rio so it's no problem to get to the beach, or any of the attractions. I also really appreciate that they encourage people to be quiet in the dorms while guests are sleeping. There is just something about this place that makes you feel comfortable and it's a great price for Rio!

If you're going to Rio for history reasons, that's the place to stay at.
Walking distance to many places like the famous bars in Lapa, old buildings, Circo Voador, Arcos da Lapa, etc.
Far from the beach, you will need a cab or bus to get to Ipanema, Copacabana, etc.
Rooms are as described in the website.
Breakfast is very very poor. I've had better breakfast in other hostels.
There are good restaurants and convenience stores nearby.
Free Wi-Fi
Desk people are friendly.
Overall, it's a good choice for a short stay.

Room Tip: Choose the 4 beds bedroom if available. There are bathrooms right across it and not many people use...

To preface, my girlfriend and I stayed here during carnival so everything was busier, and safer, than it is normally. However, the area was full of cheap, excellent corner bars and restaurants. The hostel was very secure, with large lockers, minus locks, in the rooms. Nice complimentary happy hour daily, as well as very friendly, helpful, trilingual staff. Bathroom was normal for shared, snd good value for the price. Accessible by metro or bus from the airport - just be a little careful after dark when it is not busy.

Had a great time here. I stayed over carnival and was really impressed by the cleanliness of the rooms, the facilities (awesome kitchen) and the friendly staff, who made a big effort to make sure their guests had a blast. The location is also perfect. Right in the middle of lapa, near all the good bars and clubs and only a short metro ride away from the beach. The hostel had a very easy going atmosphere that suited me perfectly. Highly recommended!!
