Qunita Azul is a special place in a great Rio location for cool bars and restaurants. Aline and the staff were brilliant before and during our visit helping to make our time in Rio totally memorable. Breakfasts on the pousada's terrace were a highlight of our stay - even if the monkeys went in to hiding towards the end! Rio is an amazing city, the cariocas were so friendly, the rhythms so danceable, the views amazing and the food and drink totally delicious - we really hope we will be back soon.
The localization is great; the staff are very kind and gave us good tips; the breakfast is delicious!
The neighborhood has good restaurants and cafes, just at a very short distance from the hotel.
It's a enjoyable way of discover a very special city, much different of what we used to hear about...
The Quinta Azul is located in the Santa Teresa neighborhood, about 2 or 3 blocks from one of the main intersections where all the bars/shops/restaurants are. Right now, with the absence of the Bonde, getting there basically means a cab ride up to the top from Gloria. It's walkable, but it's all up hill. There are also smaller VW vans that run up and down the hill, but if you can hop a cab they are inexpensive enough that it doesn't hurt your wallet getting up there quickly and comfortably.
The rooms were perfectly fine. In our room, we could have used an extra outlet or two, but that's pretty small quibbles. Breakfast was scrambled eggs, fruit, and cereal, along with the usual coffee, tea and juices. The common room is actually very nice. It's completely open to the lush hillside and during the mornings marmosets drop for breakfast as well. The staff was very helpful in all regards. We had ATM issues when we arrived that delayed our being able to pay for the hotel, and they were happy to give us a little flexibility to get our logistics in order. Everything went smoothly.
The neighborhood is my type of neighborhood. It reminds me of Los Feliz, Echo Park, or the hills of Los Angeles. It's very comfortable and because of the hills, there is often a breeze through the trees. The neighborhood is safe (which is often a misguided concern that people have about Rio in general), and two doors down at night there is the "cake lady". Try her carrot cake. You won't regret, but if you might miss it.
This place is very good! I recommend it. It's in a very interesting (and beautiful) neighborhood of Rio, the rooms are big, comfortable and clean and the staff is incredibly nice.
But be aware that it has a lot of steps to/from the rooms and the reception.
We are very please to read such nice comments about your stay with us. We are very proud that you liked our confortable cleaned rooms, and I will tell each one about your compliments to our staff.
We are pleased to inform you that we are taking action to make the steps differently and avoid any sound created by returning guests and footsteps.
We can´t wait to have you here again.
Warm regards from Quinta Azul,
Nice stay with excellent advice and help from the friendly staff. The rooms are clean, everything works like it should, but somehow too expensive for what you get in the end. The breakfast was quite good though. The location is easy: not too far from the center and right in the middle of Santa Teresa, which is a nice neighborhood. A lot of noise from the stairs, when people come back to the hotel and barking dogs kept us awake: bring earplugs and enjoy your stay.
