Description: The Delirium Café is the sixth franchise, the first of the Americas, the famous branch Delirium Café Belgium. As it should be, the Delirium is themed and its decor is all elefantinhos, beer posters and their trays. With a letter of over 450 labels of beer, the bar is the meeting point for lovers of the best beers in the world! The beers can also be enjoyed along with delicious snacks such as croquettes St. Paulin, dishes with mussels, cream cheese made with Hoegaarden and others. Come to Delirium Cafe and Health!

The beer selection is vast (to say the least). The food is fantastic -- the burgers I had there were by the far the best I had while in Rio. The Delirium and Presidente are the two I tried. The shrimp pastels are heavenly -- again, best we had in Rio. This is a great place -- must visit.

If somebody wants to try different selection at one sitting - thats the place¡ little hidden, from cafe doesn,t have much. Outside - recomended. Inside... Wel its not irish pub. Few hundreds of beer brands - thats the point.

We found this place by chance (not really a cafe, it's a bar!) and had to stop for a couple of chopps (draft beer) it's great, has tables outside and inside plus seating at the bar. There a huge beer selection both local and international. We didn't get to try any of the appetizers but everything we saw looked yummy!

this was my first ever trip to s america, let alone brazil. i admit to being a delerium brussells fan so you can imagine how impressive to see the famous pink sign one eveninh as i drove through ipanema. of course it's on a much smaler scale than the mothership, but in exchange includes a selection of local recommended brazillian beers that sure beat the rubbish served at the average bodella around here. nevertheless there has to be at least 500 beers on offer, a good range of snacks and larger portions.

in contrast to brussels where 2 barmen can serve 200 punters, there's lots of (junior) staff just waiting to take your order.

summary - a bit expensive, can't match the atmosphere of brussells. but a great example of how close brazil is to competing on level terms with the best of europe!

After having a blast in the original Delirium Café located in Brussels in 2011, I decided to check out the recently opened Rio branch. The place is kind of small, but nicely located. However, I found the beers to be very expensive. I understand most of them are imported, but prices were quite high even for the premium beer brands MADE in Brazil - one Brazilian draft beer glass cost me something around R$ 10 and wasn't that special in terms of quality - I'd rather have Brazilian draft beer at another bar in the region for R$ 4. A glass of Delirium beer was R$ 20, but it's understandable as it is imported. That said, there were not many locals there and the majority of visitors was foreign (maybe due to the prices, which are high in Reals, but not that high in other currencies?). I would go back, but just to have a glass of Delirium - and that's all. Visited on May 30th, 2012.
