Grumari beach is teh place to go, spend a day, anjoy the clean water, and after go to eat a Fish in some of the great restaurants close. You need a car to visit Grumari, and if you decide to rent a car, this is one of the places you cant miss to visit. The way to Grumari pass into Prainha (the surf beach) it is one of the most beautiful places to visit. After the beach you can cross the and go to the fisj village Guaratiba for lunch, recomend Restaurant Tia Penha, or Restaurant Skuna.

A bit far form all the other ones, this beach is noy very busy as to the the acess being a bit more difficult for the ones who use public transport and thete you can do or watch some good surfing or just relax away form lots of people as most pf the beaches in Rio. You're also very near the nude beach, the only one in Rio

The best part is at the beguining, (E) where there are big rouded rock boulders and a restaurant/bar.
From it, walking a bit towards East, you reach a nudists beach called Abricó Beach Very difficult parking at weekends and hollydays Not poluted, but treacherous sea.

It's far, but it's beautiful.
Just be careful for the traffic in Av das Americas on your way back,

This is probably the closest beach characteristic of the Costa Verde close to Rio & Barra. From the zona sul it is quite a long drive, but takes one past many of the most recent extensions of the city. The beach itself feels miles away from the city, with undeveloped dunes behind.
Very well worth a visit if one has access to a private car.
