Its so beautiful. And its in Vidigal. The people from the favela do Vidigal are very nice. You can also have lunch at Bar LacoBaco after the hike. Its in the entrance of the Favela. And also to refresh, you can have an Açaí around there too. The hiking is medium in difficulty I would say, but its definitly worth it. When you arrive in Vidigal get the Kombi or the mototaxi to the last stop and you'll be close to the entrance for the hike!

We went on an organised tour with RdJ4U and a fabulous guide, Dinho.
Fortunately one of the minivan taxis took us up through Vidigal to our starting point.
I say 'fortunately' because it would have been a steep and tiring walk for a couple in their 50's.

I'd say that at the top of Vidigal, where the trail begins, you are about halfway up, so you can imagine the climb.

The trail is well trodden but is a path through the rainforest.
At various points you come into the open, and the views are really stunning. To see a panoramic view of a suburb of $10million apartments close to Rocinha from hundreds of metres up puts lots of things in perspective.

Our guide was great and we stopped every 2 minutes or so (we needed it), so it took us about 50 minutes to reach the top. As you approach the last 50 meters or so the whole of Rio starts to open up until on top of the flat rocky outcrop you stand towering over it all and playing 'spot the landmark'. (Make sure you video this last part, it gives a really good idea of what it is like, especially if you are puffing, like I was !).

If you're not the sporty or fit type then this will leave you puffing in places but stopping often will see you to the top with enough energy left to experience the sheer thrill of having made it, and the reward you get.

It was spectacular in every sense.

When we came down we stopped for a time in Vidigal and the atmosphere and energy there was something to experience, which added to the pleasure we got from this trip.

Well, well worth it.

My favorit view in Rio de Janeiro is Morro Dois Irmaos (Two Brothers)(To brødre) seen from Ipanema. This view makes sunning and rollerblading the best workout imagenable :)
A real "must go".

!!Security closest to Copa Cabana (north of tower 7) has been pour on crowded days. Wach out for young crowds, not dressed like tourists/swimmers/surfers!!

For me is Dois Irmaos most beautiful view in Rio, those two rocks and sunset is something amazing and always worth to take some pictures but not many people know that it is also possible to climb up to those rocks. To do it you need to go to favela Vidigal and take a mototaxi to get up.There you have to take little road between houses, in beginning you need to walk on the wall but it gets better if you`re in forest. Then it is just steep path uphill, it takes about 30minutes to get up. Take some water, put hiking shoes on and don`t forget your camera!
