“Unbelievable work”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Had read about this work prior to visiting Rio. Our guide took us to the stairs and it was hard to imagine that the stairs were completed by one person. It was very colorful with tiles from every part of the world. A must see while in Rio.

“An adventure to get there”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

I saw this in a magazing, and they said it was worth to go there, located in Lapa, it's quite easy to reach by bus or taxi, and very close by is the Rio de Janeiro Cathedral and the arcs of Lapa, but be careful not to show huge cameras or jewelry, or to look pretty much like a tourist, though the área is always with cops arround, the neighbors can look and be scaryl

“Colourful and full of history”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

I went to Lapa just to see these steps. It's hidden away but feels very monumental when you arrive and see all the colours. It helps if you have done some reading before you arrive about the artist (who died in the past year) and what he wanted to acheivem and what the mosaics mean. You only need 30 minutes here to appreciate it, but cabs seemed to be frequenting the area to help tourists move onto their next destination.

It's fun, original and I just loved all the pictures I got of it all. A great thing to tick off the bucket list.

“very cute”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

I’d seen photos of these stairs and wanted to go there. It’s tucked away but not difficult to find, very close to the Lapa arches. It is a bit dodgy round there but there are police at the steps so feels very safe. You probably won’t need more than an hour to walk up and down and look at all the mosaics. The steps themselves are very cute and well worth a visit.

“A must see in Rio!”
Reviewed June 3, 2013 via mobile

After 20 years living in Rio I finally got the chance to visit this marvelous, unique, colorful and typical Carioca spot. Free of charge, you can climb the stairs anytime you want. With police reinforcing security in that area it had been pretty safe there. Take your time to observe each and every tiles, they all have a story
to tell.
After the visit you can always walk around Lapa area, relax and have a cold beer.
