“Tried and Tested”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

La Plancha is a regular haunt, reliably great seafood in a rustic atmosphere right beside the fish market. It is one of the few places in Barra that stays open to early in the morning, so sometimes it attracts a "bohemian" and "interesting" crowd. The pastels are great, Moqueca as well. They also have some really great home made chilli that is tasty as well as hot. The La Plancha platter is a solid choice. Not cheap by any means, but a must for any visitor to Barra. You won't be disappointed!

“Nice grilled fish in a rustic environment”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

The best option is to go for the grilled steaks of badejo (grouper) served with yellow rice and a couple fresh juices or caipirinhas to make it a simple yet pleasant meal in a rustic environment. My advice would be to go on Saturdays when it is a bit less crowded then on Sundays.

“Freshest fish - it's in the market!”
Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

The freshest fish you could get. This restaurant is in the fish market!
We started with a crab and a shrimp pastie the moved straight on to La Plancha.
A feast of fresh fish fit for a king would be an understatement! Lobster, prawns, ceviche, octopus, squid, mussels, salmon, sardines, white fish, another white fish; the list just went on and served with excellent saffron rice and several chopp Brahma.
We took home two large trays that we couldn't finish, weighing several kilos and this after we had stuffed ourselves with the best.
This place is frequented by locals as its off the usual tourist routes but well worth a visit as there are some good shops not too far away. It's not cheap but really good fresh fish never is. Get there early and stuff yourself with a fantastic feast of fresh fish.

“Excellent sea food”
Reviewed September 18, 2012 via mobile

The place is very original, smelling fish in a small dark street.
The food is very good, expecially the La Plancha. Sea food on a iron plate.
