Fantastic Amazonian Caiperinhas and Shrimpdishes that were out of this world. It's a hidden gem in Rio, but ask around and you will get directions. Had dinner here twice and on both occassions the food was outstanding.

The choice of entrees was quite good, and made it hard to decide what to order. The service was very good, and the deserts excellent.

We were tempted by the chance to try some aromas and flavors of the Amazonian (from where the chef herself comes). I wanted the Piranha soup, but the weather was a bit too muggy to entertain it seriously. Wish I had though. Ordered instead the 'vatapa de arraial' (A shrimp coconut fricassee) which was tasty but for 55 reais a very small portion. To drink: a graviola (soursop) cairpriinha with aged cachaca, but was overly cloved and cinamoned and the fruit juice was not fresh. Though the verandah to the rear of the restaurant offers a lovely view of the hill of Santa Teresa and its abundant vegetation.

The restaurant looks from outside more like a Latin American Drink bar for backpackers - BUT - it is a very good restaurant. Staff is superbly friendly - they served us food at 23:00 late evening with no problem whatsoever. They have normal dishes but also some "special cuisine menu" - and we tried it out - it was stunningly good. Cod with Corn - what a combination !!! Prices are reasonable but not cheap. We wanted to return the next day for lunch but the restaurant was closed - so please check their opening hours. Easy to reach.

Try and get a terrace table out the back if the weather is good as you get a great view of Santa Teresa. The restaurant has a local, laid back feel. Dress casually.
Typical Brazilian dishes, all well cooked. The coconut rice dish with a variety of meat was exceptional. We also enjoyed the pastries either filled with herby cheese or spicy prawn.
The place was filled with a mix of wealthy locals, young trendy Brazilians and a few tourists.
The house caipirinha of orange and ginger is to be sipped very slowly!
Ps this is not in a favela!
