We stayed 4 nights and were very disappointed. The view is the only nice point. You do not have good feelings there. You get a page of "don't do list, they change sheets and towels only once 3 or 4 days, thay make the beds every day but do not clean the room. If you leave the aircondition on when you go to breakfast thay enter your room and shut it down (which is very unpleasant in hot Rio). The hotel is on a very steep hill and you have to be very fit to go up on foot. It is far from the center and you have to use taxi or public transportation. We do not recommend the place.

We regret that even after asking you to not use the air conditioner with open doors and windows and turn off when leaving the room, you have insisted on doing it and forcing us to go inside your room and turn off the air conditioning. Preserve nature is vital to the Casa Caminho do Corcovado, the house is located inside the Tijuca National Park. We understand that this is a moral duty to the planet. Windows and furniture do not need air conditioning.
We're sorry you did not like to be contradicted but every hotel all over the world has its rules and regulations are to be followed.
About our distance, we are 25 minutes to downtown. And you have many options by bus or by taxi to go there. On the other hand we are 2 steps from the Corcovado train station. The places aren't all together. There will always be a distance to be traveled between places no matter where you are staying.

This small, owner-operated B&B has just a few rooms and is situated near the Tram to Corcavado, the Cristo Redentor monument high above Rio. It is a relatively quiet and peaceful enclave in a bustling metropolis of BIG noise and many people.
The owner and her son are extremely knowledgeable and very willing to share the details of places to visit, when to go, and how to get there, right down to the bus route numbers! Bus travel is an inexpensive method to cover the huge city and its many neighborhoods, so this information is very useful.
We stayed in the Toucan Room, located in the main house. What a comfortable bed this room has! So often, B&Bs and other sleeping establishments don't focus on bed quality, which is a fatal oversight. Not the case here in the Toucan Room! The bed is among the most comfortable we've ever slept on in an inn.
One caveat about this room and the adjacent one - since the windows only have shutters, your neighboring room's TV can be troublesome if the occupant falls asleep with it on at a substantial volume. We had this occur on our first night, and the noise of the TV was quite disruptive to sleeping until about 330AM when it was silenced!. Just be aware that this can happen. The other downside of this room was the water pressure in it's bathroom, which was little more than a trickle at times. We believe that this issue is specific to this bathroom.
We would recommend the Casa, especially if you appreciate the escape from the roar of the city.
We would stay here again.

A very nice place to stay, really a small bed and breakfast. Very helpful hosts. Nice grounds, with occasional monkeys, and nice views. Well situated for Corcovado and Christ the Redeemer, and good bus services to many areas. Not so good if you want to visit the beaches. Also if on foot, a steep walk up the hill.

Early in 2013 me and my wife planned our winter (European one) holiday in Rio de Janeiro and after a careful and methodical search on Tripadvisor we decided to stay in Casa Caminho do Corcovado. All we had to do was to write an email asking if there was availibility between 21st of December and 4th of January and Helena took care of everything. This is how, one of our best "adventures" yet, began and we cannot be more thankful to tripadviser's reviewers who helped us find this hidden gem in the middle of one of the most beatiful city in the world, Rio de Janeiro !
We arrived on 21st of December in a warm and cheerful Rio were we've been picked up from the airport by Diogo who transformed a simple "airport pickup" in a "grand tour" of Rio.
Every day spend in Rio could not have been complete without the stay in Casa Caminho, were every morning was a feast thanks to Helena who spoiled us with platters of tropical fruits (pineapple, papaya, mango, cantaloupe, watermelon, kiwi, apple and others), pao de queijo (I'll let everybody discover what this is), breads, cakes and many more. A couple of days Helena prepared us some delicious Brazilian specialities, Bolinho de Chuva (small doughnuts filled with pieces of banana and covered in suger and cinnamon ... WoWWWW !!!) and Rabanada (Brazilian treat served during Christmas time) ... We cannot forget the brazilian coffee (one of the best we've tasted around the world) sipped in the sumptuous veranda enjoying the beautiful view Casa Caminho do Corcovado has to offer.
After a long day our bungalow, tucked at the edge of the tropical forest together with monkeys and tucans, was the best place to calm and enjoy the nature in contrast to the bustiling Rio.
Helena took care of our everyday journeys in Rio, provided us with very detailed explanations and very good tips and also helped us book a tour to Rio's favelas. Every day we enjoyed her and Diogo's company, making us feel at home, talking about Rio and Brazil, about our country and Europe or just about anything ... Helena and Diogo aren't just wonderful guests they are also beautiful people !
For all the future guests of Casa Caminho do Corcovado who read that there are some stairs to be climbed I just want to tell them that we've stayed at Casa Caminho for two weeks and we only used the taxi for three times (there were days when we had to climb the stairs for two or three times) ... and don't think that we are sport freaks !
There is one small request we have for all guests that will stay at Casa Caminho, please give a pet to Filuco the cat who stole our hearts with his friendliness and kind spirit (he is almost 20 years old).
For the tourists who wonder how is the New Year's Eve in Rio we'll just tell them that is AWESOME !.. 2 million people dressed in white on Copacabana Beach enjoying an amazing firework display and partying until the morning comes is an experience you'll never forget !

It was hard leaving Helena, Diogo, Casa Caminho do Corcovado and Rio after two amazing weeks but we can only hope one day we'll come back knowing we'll have friends waiting for us !

Room Tip: If you choose to stay in the bungalow or in the rooms in the gorgeous villa, you can't go wrong...

Cool and calm oasis in a hectic city! Situated high up on a hill overlooking a valley, this is a very nice area to stay in Rio. Quiet and sophisticated ambiance which was appreciated after each busy day looking around. Helene and Diogo are so friendly and helpful, and gave advice with options on the best way to see the sights. The breakfasts were delightful. The long climb up the hill each day helped us to stay fit and healthy!

If trip Advisor ia looking out to nominate a Guest House or a Hotel in Rio de Janeiro as their Gold Medal winner, this is the place for the award.

It was jsut amazing to see how Helena with her son Diego runs the place with all their love and dedication to make all guests feel so happy and feel at home. The house is simply amazing with so much to appreciate not just the wonderful breakfast and cleanliness, nothing remains unwanted in here.

It was with deep regret we had to leave after 2 nights as a re-booking of the flight was impossible although my Wife and myself would love to come back any time for a longer period of time.

All which have been said by all Trip Advisor reviwers are 100% correct and authentic. Helena, the owner is a wonderful lady to take care for all her her guests with most personal approach. The breakfast, the room, the shower, the cleanliness, the safety , the watch Dog were just fantastic. one could not wish anything more.

My Wife and myself as world travellers and have never come across such a a wonderful host who provides so much care and attention for all their guests and their well being.

We both wish Helena and Diego all the success and happiness they deserve. They deserve the GOLD MEDAL l and we congratulate them for their wonderful achievemnet.

Many thanks once again Helena , your were just fabulous and wonderful. With love we reamin
