“CASA COMINHO DE CORCOVADO”

If trip Advisor ia looking out to nominate a Guest House or a Hotel in Rio de Janeiro as their Gold Medal winner, this is the place for the award.

It was jsut amazing to see how Helena with her son Diego runs the place with all their love and dedication to make all guests feel so happy and feel at home. The house is simply amazing with so much to appreciate not just the wonderful breakfast and cleanliness, nothing remains unwanted in here.

It was with deep regret we had to leave after 2 nights as a re-booking of the flight was impossible although my Wife and myself would love to come back any time for a longer period of time.

All which have been said by all Trip Advisor reviwers are 100% correct and authentic. Helena, the owner is a wonderful lady to take care for all her her guests with most personal approach. The breakfast, the room, the shower, the cleanliness, the safety , the watch Dog were just fantastic. one could not wish anything more.

My Wife and myself as world travellers and have never come across such a a wonderful host who provides so much care and attention for all their guests and their well being.

We both wish Helena and Diego all the success and happiness they deserve. They deserve the GOLD MEDAL l and we congratulate them for their wonderful achievemnet.

Many thanks once again Helena , your were just fabulous and wonderful. With love we reamin

This is THE place to stay in Rio. Quiet, beautiful surroundings, clean and comfortable, convenient to shops, restaurants and the Christ the Redeemer cable car. The breakfast is delicious and with plentiful fresh fruit. The mother and son who run the B&B give great suggestions of where to go, where to eat and what buses to take. A short, cheap (R$45) taxi ride from the airport when there's no traffic. With traffic, it can be triple that.

This is a delightful B&B set on the edge of the Tijuca Park Reserve and yet is only ten minutes walk down to the station for the Corcovado. The hosts Helena and Diogo were so welcoming and helpful I can't thank them enough for making our stay in Rio so enjoyable. Diogo collected us from the airport and gave us an interesting potted history of Rio on route to the Casa. Getting around Rio is easy as there are plenty of local buses to take you to all the sights. The breakfasts are delicious with plenty of fruit and local delicacies. We stayed in the bungalow which has an idylic setting The casa is an ideal place for birdwatchers and nature lovers as the beautiful garden is full of birds and we saw monkeys as well. It feels very safe and is a peaceful haven against the hustle and bustle of Rio.

Thanks for an incredible time at the Casa Caminho do Corcovado! We spent nearly a week at the Casa and despite the high praise we saw here beforehand, the stay even exceeded our expectations. Helena and Diogo were always there for a nice chat and very helpful advice when it comes to exploring the Cidade Maravilhosa. Not to mention the delicious traditional Brazilian breakfast featuring a wide array of fresh fruits amongst other delicacies such as home-baked pão de queijo. We stayed at the cosy and picturesque little guest house close to the main Casa and it was really nice - surrounded by trees and flowers. We even spotted some little monkeys and tucans in the garden. The Casa is nicely located in the Cosme Velho neighborhood, thus making it a good home base to head to Ipanema & Leblon, Copacabana or Lapa by bus or taxi - and of course to the Cristo Redentor statue on top of the Corcovado mountain: The train station is just a five-minute walk away. In a nutshell, we warmly recommend the Casa!

We stayed in the B&B for the last two days of our holiday in Brazil and were very happy with our choice! The location is perfect, it's located very close to the train to go to the Corcovado in a very safe neighborhood. We felt rather safe to walk around in the evening to go to a restaurant etc..
Also very close to a bus stop, so it's easy to take a bus or bus + metro to the other parts of town.

It's a very beautiful house with great views. We stayed in the bungalow, which is a very private, large room. It was nicely decorated and always kept very clean. We appreciated the fact that we were allowed to checkout in the evening, as no new guests were arriving that day.

Helena is a great host who made us feel very welcome in her home. The breakfast is superb, much choice and very copious. Her son Diego came to pick us up from the airport for 100 Reals (90 to go back), all was arranged perfectly.

A great and affordable place to stay!

I spent weeks researching and finding a place to stay in Rio De Janeiro. I am so glad I made the right choice at Casa Caminho do Corcovado. This colonial style B & B is on a hilltop and has a view overlooking the Cosme Velho valley. I wake up every morning to the sound of birds and monkeys. The location is also very convenient where I could catch a city bus to almost every common places of interest. It is also very near to the Corcovado/Christo Redentor tram station. The owners (Helena and son Diogo) are very friendly and accommodative to our needs during our stay. The surrounding area is also safe. I highly recommend this B & B.

My husband and I stayed in the bungalow at Casa Caminho in August 2013, and I can honestly say that it was the highlight of our trip. We were previously staying in Copacabana, and this beautiful gem was much better! (and way less expensive!) The grounds are absolutely amazing -- we spend several happy hours just sitting and reading in her beautiful and peaceful garden. Everyone has already said this, but I will reiterate that the breakfast is delicious -- some of the best food that I had in Rio. I was worried based on previous reviews that this would be far removed from the city, but it wasn't at all. If you are in relatively good shape you can take a short walk down the hill to the main street in the great neighborhoods of Cosme Velho and Laranjeiras. Some of our best days were spent wandering around and exploring the local shops, restaurants, and the farmer's market on Saturday. Also, the bus system is pretty easy to use and there are cabs everywhere, so all other parts of the city were just a short ride away. Helena, went above and beyond to make us feel very welcome (giving us advice on where to go, helping us order Chinese food, letting us borrow silverware late at night so we could eat the dessert we picked up at a local bakery, etc.), and her son Diego was super friendly and cool, and drove us to the airport on our last day. The staff was very friendly and polite. If I'm ever in Rio again I will definitely stay here -- I would highly recommend this as a great place to stay!

Room Tip: The bungalow was very romantic -- great for couples.
