For the price, this place did the job, but was overall a bit disappointing. The location is good if you want to take a taxi or the metro, but a bit of a slog to the beach (nice park just outside, though). The staff were helpful with recommendations for food, but let me down the day I left. I had asked the night before for a taxi to the airport, when I came down to leave I was told that they hadn't been able to book one, AND that it was an hour later than I thought because of the change to summer time! The last time I stayed somewhere during a time change there were notices all over the place, but not here.

The rooms were basic, and the only hot water was in the shower. I had someone come up to get the safe to work twice, and then gave up. The inner room with the bunk beds and the TV was very dark, and the "kitchen" (a narrow space off to the side) even darker. The AC didn't really reach that far.

This is the 2nd time I go to Rio and the 2nd time I stay in the Jucati Building. It has an excellent location close to the subway and to the copacabana beach. Additionally, there's a taxi point really close which is really convenient as taxis are cheap in Rio. The apartments are big and can comfortably host 4 people. The bedrooms and the bathroom are ok and cleaned daily. Beds are comfortable. There is a kitchen and fridge, if you prefer to eat at home. It is advisable to pay a little more for the apartments with air conditioning as the temperature in Rio during summer can easily go over 40C. The wi-fi worked well in both apartments we rent on the 3rd floor, but the building offers PCs with internet access for very little (something like 0.60 BRL/h).

My only and foremost complain is regarding the payment method. The Jucati only accepts cash. In the 21st century, every time someone tells me they only accept cash to run a business I cannot help and think it is done solely for tax evasion. There is no advantage in keeping huge amounts of cash in the hotel. Also, it is really inconvenient to have to withdraw and walk around Rio with 300 BRL every day.

One good thing about this is that there's always a police car parked closed to the hotel, so the security is good. I can't help but to think it is all related to the fact this hotel only accepts cash.

With that said, I would definitively come back...

It is so relaxed to have your "own" appartment in Rio / Copacabana.

Perfect location, just 5 blocks away from Copacabana boulevard.

The rooms/appartments are clean. All you need is there...

2 blocks away from the metro stration with a good connection to sugarloaf mountain and downtown Rio.

We were disappointed by this place. The location was fine as it s only a few blocks from the beach, is near a supermarket and is well priced.

However it has a overall dreary feeling to it. The apartment was dark and dingy and really uk appealing.

There was very limited stuff to cook with. There was no washing up liquid or dish cloths or anything so for a few nights stay you have to buy your own as they don't wash things for you either.

The wifi was extremely painful, sometimes on, sometimes not, and then the last two days completely dead. The staff on reception whilst sometimes nice were mostly unhelpful and really didn't know how to deal with fixing the wifi.

The PCs at the business centre didn't work.

We also had banging next door on two of our days as they were doing some renovation work. No notice was given, no apology, nothing.

It's also weird that you can't pay by credit card.

Overall disappointed and would not return

This is a nice building, well located near Copacabana beach and very closed to Siqueira Campos metro station. The staff is nice and efficent. Dayly cleaned, the apartments is quite, nice (without any luxury furniture) and well functioning.
Only disadvantage: the policy of not allowing visitors. This may be understandable for security reasons, but it is not very nice if you have colleagues or friends to work with or just to entertain. They should follow a more liberal policy, registering in case the visitor at the front desk.
Prices are high, but this is a problem in Rio, anyway.

Room Tip: Bigger aptmens. at the front

The price was right but there was something about it that made me feel I wasn't on vacation. I almost felt as though I was a struggling middle class worker in a borderline safe neighbourhood in Rio. There were no tourists to be seen so it really does feel like an apartment. Some front desk staff were nice while others were completely rude. It was pretty far from the beach. I guess you get what you pay for. Just at $100 per night you would think you could do better. But that's Rio!
