Description: With thirty-one years of tradicion this restaurat was the first to work with self service in south zone of Rio de Janeiro, or how many of you call, the wonderfull city. Located at Botanic Garden, one of the most beautiful neighborhoods, near by the (emphasis here) Botanic Garden (the famous tourist spot). Variety and sophistication are the menu marks. Japonese food, brazilian and foreign cuisine to conquer all the palates, from the more demanding to the open minded.

This is a self service restaurant where you pay per kilograms. This is very common in Rio. The food is excelent and you can chose what you want and how much you want and you pay just for it. The salads and the fish are excelent ! I love the deserts too.

One of the best kilo type restaurants in Rio. You will only find locals there, people that are very fond of this place. This is not a restaurant to eat grills or picanha(they are not specialized in that), but they do have a wonderful food, fresh ingredients, some of them, organic. Also they have a good variety of desserts - my suggestion is the very Brazilian "doce de abóbora com coco"(sweet pumpkin with coconut dessert). I also suggest that you have lunch there either before or after you visit the Botanical Gardens, because it's within walking distance(10 to 15', depending on the pace, but it's a smooth walk). Dress informally, even with shorts or jeans, because that's about what people dress there. Try a table near the window with a parcial view of the Trees of the Botanical Gardens, specially on a sunny day.

Huge variety of foods from sushi to salad to steak. Might need to speak Portuguese to get by, but this is a great locals place away from the tourist ripoffs.

I´m not keen on this type of meal, but Couve Flor is really unbeatable in quality among those that sell food by weight. A good option close to the Botanical Garden, the place is clean but a little tight (the focus seems to be the food not the environment) and is always crowded at lunch times. (long lines on weekends). That´s not cheap.
