“Hearty Food but lacking in Atmosphere”
Reviewed December 14, 2013

German restaurent that serves hearty portions of a range of typical german fare. We had the pork knuckle which was very filling and quite tasty. There is a range of german and brazilian beers on offer. Service was germanic and could have been friendlier.

“German restaurant in Santa Teresa”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

We went to this restaurant for lunch in January 2013. We were in Santa Teresa doing the tourist thing, actually looking for a specific restaurant in a tourist book which we never found. We didn't realize (dumb!) that it was a German restaurant until we had sat down and received the menu in English. We're not really into German food, but we were seated, so we halfheartedly decided to eat there. Not impressed. I'm just writing this review to let people know that it is a German restaurant. Beer was good!

“True German fare worth the visit”
Reviewed April 2, 2012

We stayed in Santa Teresa and visited the restaurant twice. The first night we ordered sausages and beer along with some sauerkraut. We saw a table of 12 getting served the pork knee which was 3 or 4 kilos. The owner saw us looking at him cutting the huge piece and brought over a plate. We immediately ordered one for the next night and brought friends. Awesome!!! The owner speak English too.

“Great german cuisine in Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro”
Reviewed January 15, 2012

Try the EISBEIN ("pork knee"?).
Or go for the KASSLER... hmmmm
Don't forget the many variations of sausage.
Light and also dark draft beer, both skillfuly prepared.
Even better, get them both in the same glass.
Light on top, dark in the bottom. Hold your glass carefully in order not to mix them before you drink it.
