We were surprised to find that the two restaurants at this military installation next to Pao de Açucar (Sugarloaf) cable car entrance, were now open to the public. We were first going to eat at the a la carte restaurant, with outdoor seating and average prices, but there was noise from construction and too much sun, so we ate at the by-the-kilo (by weight) restaurant indoors and were glad we did. The food at this self-service section is apparently open just for lunch. Food was good, and the prices very low. The view of the ocean, etc. is excellent. A much, much better value than the buffet at the restaurant right at the cable car entrance.
