We went to this place based on recommendations by a local. I almost felt like running out the door when I opened the menú and looked at the prices. It was way overpriced for the amount of food. The food was just ok, good, but nothing special. Would not recommended.

Siri Mole is a typical brazilian restaurant focused on northeast regional seafood. You must try: acarajé, pastel de camarão, moqueca de camarão, vatapá and bobó de camarão. They also have excellent caipirinhas!

I will not disagree with other contributors who wrote that food and service are excellent, but pricey. But what you have to bear in mind is that servings are so generous that you can easily share a starter and a main course without going home hungry. While we enjoyed our dinner and the wine (first palatable Brazilian Chardonnay I ever tasted!), we were not so happy with the aircon which seemed to be set slightly above freezing level.

We followed Loney Planet'sadvice to take advantage of Saturday all-you-can-eat Bahian seafood buffet there. But, the buffet in question consisted of 4 or 5 selections, all potted meals, and the price was twice (at R$82 pax) of what was advertised in Lonely Planet. The cramped venue overlooking a backstreet had nothing special to offer either: bare tables lined-up in 20 cm intervals from eachother. Other a-la-carte items on the menu were mostly above R$100 mark each, and did not see any reason to pay such a high price for such an average eatery.

We went to Siri Mole to have some food from Bahia close to Ipanema. It was quite outrageously expensive and not very "authentic". I think they try to tone the dende oil down for the clientele which results in moqueca that is thin. The service is very good and if you want a white linen type place, it is a good choice.
