Booked table for 3 at 20.00. On arrival very quiet but soon got busier. First observation was service very good indeed. Downside was that 2 bottles
of wine on menu were unavailable which is unacceptable for 5 star hotel. 3rd choice was good. Food of high quality. My choice of lamb exceptional. No rush and very well timed table delivery.

We arrived at 9 P.M. to a fairly crowed and elegant restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food was a work of art, both in quality and presentation. Top this off with a bottle of 2002 Dom and the evening can be nothing but marvelous. We never felt rushed and the staff did everything to make this a high-quality dining experience. Overlooking the beautiful pool just added to the ambiance. Make sure to visit the Copa and this wonderful restaurant.

The pool area at the Copacabana Palace Hotel is place to 'see and be seen' and a hustle and bustle of well healed hotel guest, strutting their stuff and soaking up the sun while being served hand and foot by a plethora of staff. The Cipriani Restuarant is just off the pool area and you are immediately struck by the cool, calm sanctuary that it is, perched a couple of steps above the pool area, with great people watching views looking over the pool area.

The restaurant decor is all starched linens and waiters in finery but don' let this put you off the prospect of a relaxed meal with excellent food and service.

We were not staying at the hotel so weren't sure what the dress code would be but we were fine in smart shorts and polo shirts for a lunch sitting. I suppose it may be a bit more formal for dinner, maybe relaxed evening resort wear.

Service was lovely. Slightly formal but with a smile and approachable. As with most places in Rio that we visited, English is used sparsely but we managed and got some basic recommendations for choosing our order.

The first choice of wine we wanted was out of stock which was a bit disappointing and the bottle that we did order was warm and needed an ice bucket for some time before it got cool enough.

For main course I had the lobster pasta which was delicious. Really delicious. There were mounds of beautiful sweet and tender lobster pieces, all removed from the shell. The pasta was perfectly cooked and lots of flavour. I probably would have held back a bit on the salt but otherwise a sublime dish.

Dessert was a lovely chocolate affair, beautifully presented and coffee served with a plate of petit fours. We ordered a glass each of Limoncello which seemed to be a bottomless glass but only charged for a glass each.

The setting is relaxed and refined, the service attentive, smart and friendly, and the food had the lightest touch of culinary deliciousness. Sigh, one to go back to Rio for!

The Cipriani is part of the Copacabana Palace hotel. We let the hotel and restaurant know that Debra was celebrating a birthday dinner.

The food, wine, and service was excellent! It met our high standards quite well. What was most memorable for me was the view of the pool from the restaurant. It was evening and the pool was lighted. No one was using the pool then. The ambiance was terrific.

I suggest you request a table by the pool to have an unobstructed view.
