The best food we ate in Brazil was at this restaurant. The appetizers which they give free, are delicious and a meal in themselves. The entrees were fabulous, but the price tag is enormous, so go there for a special meal! and Enjoy!

We were 7 people for dinner on a Tuesday night, we had a round table at the far end of the restaurant and we truly enjoyed our dinner together. We shared the carpaccio appetizer in the center of the table, original, fresh and overall very good, enough food for everyone. The wine list was adequate in terms of variety and price. Food was very good, we all ordered our own dishes everyone enjoyed what they ordered and my risotto was very good. We didn't order desserts as we were all tired and pretty full by the time we finished our dinner.

I was disappointed with this restaurant. I went there with a couple of business colleagues. We were told it was one of the best seafood restaurants in Rio so perhaps we went in with unrealistic expectations.

The setting itself is very nice and the staff was friendly. The wine list was comprehensive and reasonably priced. However, we noticed almost immediately that our waiter, on every occasion, recommended the most expensive thing on the menu. When asked about appetizers, he immediately gave the hard sell for the most expensive item. We then asked about entrees, again he pointed to the most expensive entree with glowing endorsement. It was almost comical as he lost his credibility with us immediately. At this point, the food would have had to have been excellent for us to have a positive experience at this restaurant. It wasn't.

The food was decent but not unique or innovative in any way and definitely not worth the price charged. We had one appetizer that was a complete failure. We barely touched it. The entrees were fine but nothing special. After finishing our entrees, we just wanted to leave. We decided to get dessert and after dinner drinks elsewhere.

I believe Satyricon is one of the best restaurantes in Rio. Just after the bar counter at the entrance you will see a big table that resenbles a fish market stand, with lots of raw fish and sea food. Start with the fish carpaccios, thin slices of different kinds of raw fisch, each one scorted by its sauce, a symphony of flavours. You may continue with squid (superb), octopus, shrimps or fish, because everything is excellent here. The wine list, with an emphasis but not limited to whites, is very comprehensive: last time I had a great south african chardonay. Friendly service and nice environment, although not cheap, because the ingredients are very fresh and cannot be stored.
